SHI!!!#

While turning over the engine with a ratchet and socket from the crank shaft sensor nut to make sure everything was good to go, I let the socket slip off and it broke off one of the notches of the sensor sprocket. it was a clean break about 180 degrees from the gap. Do I need to replace? Will this just affect my speed reading? Because its already off anyways from me going up to a 43 rear sprocket.

Is it as simple as removing the bolt and swaping them out?

Torque Spec Not found in the book:

Select rubber or plastic shot type hammer. 3/8th breaker bar like a hand held with the 17mm socket at the end. Set gear in N. Set hammer close to your ear, then aim for the end of the breaker bar. Do this about 3 times and let the crank move as you do it. Move hammer above head if you think you need a 4th strike like 3 were not enough?

That there is your, "warning banner works for me torque."

Just make sure it's tight so it doesn't fall off and you'll be fine.

Yeah, i just got to excited and screwed up, the tooth that broke off almost went into the crank case! That would have been swell. Im ready to get this thing back on the road. I hope the spark pinging is going to be gone with these new plugs, new BMC, and the fuel tank being drained and filled with a known good fuel. I think this will help narrow it down. If not ill be working on that next.

Done, it started with the tap of the button and sounds normal! Yeah I didnt screw anything up! lol But as far as the test ride goes, it was 15 degrees warmer today than the last ride, at first I did not here any pinging, but as I put it through its paces I heard some while rolling swiftly into the throttle going up a hill. Its not as bad but it is much warmer today than the last ride. Im really thinking its to lean in the low and mid rpm range for this climate. So the good news is the valves are now in spec, the plugs are new, installed a BMC, and flushed the fuel tank of trash, and I was shocked to see how much junk was in the gas tank. So looks like im in the market for a PC.

Very cool! Well you didn't solve your pinging but your bike is now serviced for another long interval.
Now it's time for more power with a PC .

Did you ever clean the injectors. I tried the Wynns Power charge this weekend and was blown away with what it does. Sounds like you might have carbon build up causing the pinging. It might be worth a try.

I have ran several other brands, Last being some of amsoil's stuff. I'm betting they are not dirty, as the bike still makes great power, and runs smooth. I tried running some 100 plus octane fuel in it and there was no pinging. This has to be a tunning issue.

Yeah more power is alway good, Im aslo scanning ebay, craigslist ect, for a full exhaust. My r-77 slip on system is due for there 3rd re-packing and in getting tired of hand riviting those freaking things.. I'll miss the look of this dual ti with carbon tips system, I have gotten many compliments on this system, but im wanting a louder exhaust, and to twist out a few more ponies.
