Oil smoke at throttle opening and decel

Got a friend whos 06 14 is blue smoking like a valve seal problem. It has a 44 dry shot. The oil smoking started last week but the bike has not lost any mph like you would think should happen if the motor was hurt. The plugs dont show any lean problems whatsoever. Wondering if anyone had an issue where the gaskets on the valve cover was somehow letting oil go into the exhaust port by the clean air passage after talking with 1Bad this morning. I havent done any leakdown tests on it because it is going to the engine shop next week to be checked.

Never heard of any valve seal problems ... My bet it's caused by spraying the bike ..Mostlikely rings ... It is possible that the orings around the clean air system could be leaking , i have seen it happen on other Bikes .. I would check that first and then do a leak down ..

More than likely you are right about the rings. It just seems strange that it does not smoke with a load on the engine. Puzzling..

A local guys here had a zx12 with a similiar sounding problem. He was spraying a 40 shot on the button. A little smoke off the line but at the end of his run, the bike smoked so bad track officials thought he oiled down the track. Well to make a long story short, the bike eventually became hard to start ...it took weeks/months to get to this point. Pulled the motor apart and 3 of the 4 pistions were junk. It was amazing the bike even ran. I sure hope this is not the case with your bike.

Engine will have compression, run, sound somewhat quiet, clean looking plugs...sans tiny spots of det on the plug read. Any spots on the porcelain, though the plug looks kinda clean? Say a valve tick cannot go away after you set the valves or find they are within spec. That tick is the skirt moving in the two directions. You lose tolerance at the skirt and it ticks up and ticks down like the valves are making noise.
Next oiler is when the piston dome collapses the rings in the groove. This can no longer be both a compression sealer and an oil scraper at the same time. So with the ring not spreading out under pressure, that oil can stay on the wall, mix with the burn is burn the oil in the chamber. There is your smoke is a collapsed ring and/or, scored skirt.

Check the easy stuff first, is there oil in the air box - a high oil level will do this.

a ZX16!?!? That sounds awesome. It's be cool shit to see someone shove a 3.0 V6 into a 14 -- kind of like the Boss Hoss small block Hondas! Talk about a speed demon!

Yeah 220 hp at the rear wheel.
It's nice to dream anyways. But soon as Kawasaki wants to come out with the next gen 14 and if it kicks ass I'm in.

I know you said blue smoke which is typical for an oil burner but you didn't mention any substantial oil consumption. Are you sure it's not just an overly rich A/F condition and black smoke?? Just asking, not doubting your mechanical prowess.
