Modifying the sargent to accept the corbin backrest sounds like a solution to having the best of both worlds.
I haven't seen that done yet.

Has anybody tried the low profile Sargent seat? If so, does it give up comfort against the regular height? Being less than 6', (5' 7"), it would be nice to have both feet firmly on the ground. If I had a choice of seat height vs comfort I'll take the comfort. I don't drive with my feet on the ground.

How about the Connie seat vs the Sargent for long range comfort?

In the last two days I've put 700 miles on mine. We're also planning some long trips again this year. One will be at least 2000 miles round trip and the other about 800. Sooo, it would be worth the $400 if the seats are as good as everyone says.

BTW, my '08 has over 20, 000 on it now and I firmly believe it's the best bike ever made
That's 20,000 miles of joy!!

Louis,
Sorry I'm not closer but I've moved back to Gainesville Georgia after spending 8yrs in Austin Texas. Never met wheelie but we have been "talking" for several years and developed a good rapport on m/c info.

Thanks for the note.

SG, I had a connie seat and it seemed kinda wide. used it twice and sold it. It might be good for you though. I find the stock seat is one of the best for comfort I have had. I have a spare (stock) seat and looking to get it redone. I'm also a 300 mile-a-day kinda rider (my harley buds start dropping like flies after lunch ) I'm 5' 9" and I lowered mine with a 3 hole which helped alot for flat-footed stance and backing up. 22K on mine

I like the Connie seat much better than the stock. I am 6'3" and 225 in shorts so long legs.

I'm sure Sargent makes a high quality seat that functions very well, if not the best -- but do they have to make the back half look like a bag of garbage? I really like Corbins design of basically sweeping both seats and looking like they simply sharpened the stock seat profile -- looks better IMO

Thanks for letting me know. I've sat on the new Connie at the dealer, and the seat did seem wider and softer. I was leaning towards that, but I was trying to get the local dealer to let me take it home for the night, (with a modest deposit), so far they won't risk it...

I once purchased a Corbin for my '85 900 Ninja. It looked really sharp with it on there, but it was wider and harder. It never did soften up as nice as the stocker so I sold it. That's why I'm a little slower in plucking out 4 or 5 bills for a new seat...

As for the low profile seat, we bought one, (from Kawasaki, not Sargent), for my wife's '07 650r Ninja. It was lower towards the back of the seat, where she never sits, but not noticably lower in her normal seating position, plus, it was harder. We were fortunate to sell it for what we paid for it.

Did you lower your bike using Brock Straps or did I misunderstand you. If so, is it really safe for the street? The roads on the East side of WA are not as well financed as the West side, so bumps and holes are more common. I'd like to lower my wife's bike still as she barely touches the ground.

BTW, I'll be in your neck of the woods working from Olympia to Everett this Thurs and Fri. If you're around with time on your hands let me know.

I'm using a 3-hole dog bones (middle) for the rear and slid the tubes an inch up front. I haven't had any concerns suspension- wise with bumps here. Its feels the same. I wish I was 6' 4" and had a 10" tongue and could breathe through my ears, but hey! Lowering it helps with touching the ground better for sure. As for your wife's bike, Try Rich's Custom Seats in Kingston,Wa. If your going to spend money on a seat, check them out first. write me dcjens@yahoodotcom Darin

I didn't know you could even run a Connie seat on the ZX14, that's nice to know. Is there a slimmer seat option? I like the skinny seats like the ones on my 750.

Yes a Connie 14 with the ZX14 hardware goes on. Tall rides like it better.

The only way I was able to solve my comfort problems was to sell my 14 and bought a m109r. All my comfort problems went away

I asked about the ZG ST screen on another thread. Is it the best coverage you can currently get for the 14R? Quality and fit? I presume you're satisfied from your presentation.

Duly noted. I'll order one up on your say-so. It looks like nice coverage on the bike. That is the standard ST model, correct? Much obliged.
