OK, that is the US built KZ900-A5 (The LTD had the same frame number range but had mag wheels .) The US model started with number 500001 and was sold in 76 and 77. Your number is at the very end of the number range so might have been sold in 77.
So, is this guy NUTZ, er whut?

I claim to have owned a 1977 KZ900.
Wheelie says I'm nuts - had to be a 76 if it was a 900.
kawasakijockey just said that 77 was the first year for the 1000.
That supports Wheelie's thinking.
So, am I nuts or what?
1977 was the only year that the kz900 and kz1000 were sold.

I had a very nice z1r that had an 1197cc kit and Norris cams with the best of everything. With race fuel and advanced ignition it made right close to 140hp @ 12,000rpm. The engine was Superbike spec for the day. To run on pump gas it needed full retard on the timing and would still blow the tire off at 80mph. Lots of fun. Sold it to buy the 14.

I've still got a '78 KZ1000 that I bought new 32 years ago in June. It's an 1105 with RC cams and 29 smoothbores. I installed a set of original Dymags back about 25 years ago and the guys went crazy...........a 3" wide rear rim !!!

I had a 1976 KZ900 just like in the video w/900 original miles on it,just a repainted tail section, everything else original, every phillips head screw on the engine was untouched but I sold it to re-do my kitchen in 1990. I thought the GS1100ES was the first 10 second bike. Anyone remember the old magazine article"Takin it to the 10's" which had a Yoshimura prepped 1105cc Z-1R vs an RC Engineering 1176cc GS1000E?

I thought Pee Wee ran a 10.94 on a GPZ750 Turbo in late '83 to hype sales before the bikes hit dealerships?
(check that..... Pee Wee ran 10.71)
