New Zumo 660 coming anyday now!

I'm excited, I got a late Birthday present(Zumo 660) and it was ordered Saturday so it should be here anyday now. I've only been living in central FL for 17 months now and some of these roads, restaurants, stores, and hang out spots are hard to find. Futhermore, I have a harder time getting back home and sometimes have to stop for directions. I've been wanting a GPS that would fit both my bike and automobiles. Since it can rain at any moment I had to choose a GPS that was weather proof.

Stevefl was the first member I know that bought one(Zumo 550) for his bike and he has always stated awesome reviews on the product. I've been doing extensive research on that model(s) and decided to get the latest version(Zumo 660) which has a larger screen and touch screen more functional with gloves on. I will post installation pics, final installation pics, and my opinion on the product. I will try the mounting bracket that will come with the unit but might change to an after market application(techmount maybe). These units are not cheap but I look forward to a reliable unit and sound directions since I use my bike for travel often.

you are absolutely correct Peyton but there are some cool features on the unit plus I'm always looking of ways to make the bike look better than it already is. It will come in handy on our trip up to Tenn

Congrats, I have been looking at the 550 but couldn't bring myself to spend the coin. I looked up the 640 and it looks to be really cool for those long trips.

Sorry fellas, Yes the unit did come in but I did not want to use the handle bar mount(U-bolt) option they provided for the ZX14

My dad came in town Wednesday from MI and we have been busy doing projects around the house. We've trimmed the tree out front and also cut the tree in the back.

Mostly everything I've learned have been from my dad and he's still an inspiration in my life and I still try and learn as much as I can from him while he's still alive. Here's a pic of him roping off the tree, predicting were it will land( we only have a 6 foot radius from the fence to the screens protecting the pool). The man has a gift and is on point 95% of the time!

Timberrrrrr!

Bags of cut limbs and tree limbs

Front yard

Final cut results

I've ordered the Techmount stem mount bracket and it should be here late next week so I will posts pics of install and opinion of products. Have a great weekend yall, I have some work to do

Tim, those are some great pics of you and your Dad You are a wise man to recognize the importance of doing stuff with your Dad now, while you can. Within the last few months my own father's health has deteriorated to the point where he can no longer do things like that. He is terminal, and will probably pass away within the next few months.

Enjoy the time with each other while you can, my friend

Really looking forward to see how the mounting works out for the Zumo, as I am going to be getting into that project myself, quite soon.

I got that Zumo 660 installed and talking about a sweet look and addition to my 14..... I will posts some pics of the install and final looks when I get back home this afternoon. The entire instllation only took 1hr and I had to take off only the right side panel(fins), the right air intake panel and the battery door to complete the job. So far my opinion is

Removing panels

Area that I chose to route the power cable for the GPS

Connected the connectors that will work good and last long

You can see how I chose to route the power thru the righ hand side of the bike and have to power come out where the Ram Air tube is routed

Techmount is in place and here's the final pics! Looks REALLY GOOD!

Look if you take the GPS off

Tim,
Are you ever going to bring your bike to the track? May 2nd is a Funday Sunday at the track in Orlando. You said late last year that you would make it out soon

Tim,

I'd imagine that you'd want to take the GPS off the bike and put it in a pocket or something when you are leaving the bike parked anywhere (store, work, nudie bar, etc.). Do those contacts stay exposed, or do they give you some type of weatherproof cover for the exposed block?

Did any type of factory mount come with this unit? If so, how does it compare to the TechMount, and how much do those TechMount's go for?

Love that setup. Thanks for posting the pics, and detailing the install!
