Boza stock gearing.. 14 with larger rear...um good race. I started stock gearing on roll on's

up 2 from stock was a Huge difference, both in 2nd gear at 70 and hit it. 100 pound extra weight ummmm should be close until 14 with gear is thru.Booza blows by then.

I agree Wee! 100lb difference is a shit ton of HP to be made up.. No way the 14 is beating the Busa unless the 14 has a CT pipe.

I am not calling anyone a liar. You have your opinion and I respect that, but you are not giving the 14 its due credit. I go all the time with him and he can not out pull me, and that is a fact! I have not raced another booza so I can' t compare it to how fast his is. Between our bikes the 14 takes it!
And it does have a C/T Pipe, that knocks off about 26 lbs, so now its 75 lbs difference!

Yes, I do realize that...........I still want some top end..........you know the best of both worlds

All of my friends have restricted bikes.....now that mine does not I hope with this gearing to be able to push by them on top when they hit the limiter.

In a street roll on with just a 16 tooth.....................my friend beats me by 2-3 bikes.
It slowed me down all the way through the gears. With the 40 tooth in the rear, and the 17 tooth up front, I can pull him 2-3 bikes....................16/43-16-45 is REALLY low gearing
for what I want. I do not go to the strip.

Dave.

the 14 has the fastest top speed no matter what size sprocket u put on the back unless its some crazy shit like a 49 tooth or some shit.....no ofence but its your weight thats slowing u down man.....im 6'2" 220 nacked and mine will still do every bit of 180 and probably a lil more im just not gana push it much faster bc most tires are only rated up to 165mph and u damn sure dont want 1 to sherd apart going that fast and my sprockets are 16/44

I beleave you, I am close to your weight and beat guys I shouldn't be able to on a regular bases(Hence:BLK ICE). But it is due to set-up and knowing when and how to pick my battles. I would caution you not to think all 14 and 13 are set-up equal. I think if your friend had the same gear ratio, clutch pressure, strong stock motor, and traction, and riding skill as you, he would take you.
Just don't tell him.

16/43 is all you can go on stock chain after a few thousand miles for it stretch out some is Awesome for high gear room on's. I play in the Ozark Mountains and added a 190/55/17 rear. The taller rear takes a little away from the shorter gearing but not by much. A ZX14 will turn SOO much better with the 55 series rear. I am 6'3" 220 in shorts and this gearing made a HUGE difference in roll on's in 2nd thru 6th gear. First gear..........if you did not learn how to do wheelies on a dirt bike growing up.Be CAREFULL.

I just did a 16/43 gearing change on my 08 SE after reading this thread. Man, what a difference! Seems to be the perfect gearing for me at 220lbs. I also stretched it out to 63.5in. It is great to finally be able to give it all the beans in 1st gear without the front taking to the air. Best mod ever! Can't wait to hit the drag strip.

Example of how a heavyweight beats a liteweight

300+lb guy has completely stock motor 07 zx14 (no nitrous) true hand clutch

liteweight has the biggest motor that can be built and still have a functioning coolent system in a 06 zx14 hand slider

it is all about set up and skill.

I wish more big guys road their own bikes.

Same here in my Black 07 14. Gone but Not forgotten. 16/43 with a ZZZ chain and Driven steel rear sprocket and kaw Zephyr 16 front (quiet) I had the links, extension and strap and never used them at the strip...sigh....rotator cup injury that has finally healed. Been thinking about buying a stock used 14R and wondered if I can re gear without and problems other then a speedo healer and even harder hitting wheelies with 16/43??? Still time at my age to do this one more time. Been looking at a Gen II Busa( cheaper) but I like the 14R looks and more HP stock better.

Man you launch the hell outta that thing!

I have never run my bike at the drag strip before, but have a ton of car drag experience. I did some practice launches on my favorite strip of road. Once I do a good rolling burnout through 1st, the tire has good enough heat to bite pretty good on an unprepped surface. I find I have trouble making the 1-2 shift with how hard it launches now if I leave both feet off the pegs on launch. So I kept my left foot on the peg and tried launching like that. Brought up 3500rpm, gave it about 75% throttle while slipping the clutch a bit. The tire holds well and then slips just a little then bites hard, the front comes up a touch and holds till the top of 2nd bang 3rd then I shut down.

I did this about 5 times in a row trying to see if I could peg the throttle in 1st quicker each time. No matter what, it does not do more than a baby wheelie, at least on the street. At the track I'm used to launching my AWD Turbo which is automatic. I get low 1.5 60's with that and the 14's launch seems comparable, maybe quicker. I'm not going to be presumptuous enough to think I could pull a 1.4 60ft my 1st time at the strip with the bike, but it felt damn quick on the street.
