VIN number on the ZZR1400

I Recently purchased a 2008 (?) ZZR1400 Atomic Silver machine, this bike is practically brand spanking new with only 1500Kms on the clock. The bike was imported to South Africa Cape Town and I was told the bike has ABS fitted with this particular model (European). I am no fundi on ABS fitment at all and the Salesman assured me this bike has it WTF!! Alas NO ABS,after doing some research only the European 2008 model has ABS, so I decided to check the VIN number but I'm unable to because the Bike only has 12 digits as opposed to 17.
Here are the bikes Frame & Engine No's-

Frame: ZXT40A-022426
Engine No: ZXT40AE018764

I got as far as Kawasaki Thailand but still no verification? How do I check these numbers?
If you count ten digits (I am told) on the engine No it stops at "8" meaning it is 2008!
On the digital dash you have a language option, this one has "English or French" would this mean the bike is European Model??
The bike itself is a beaut of note and I have never been so fast on two wheels in my life, luv the bike!
But if you pay for ABS the bike should have it.

Any thoughts on how to verify this bike

By looking at the pics I've seen, the only thing I could see different was the brake rotor had small slots in them (I'm guessing for the comp to tell if the tire is sliding.

Correct! There is a sensor that picks up on those slots to determine the speeds between the back & front wheels, calculating the pressure applied to the front brakes culminating a none skid happening to front & back brakes!!

So if i get this right.
Are you saying that ABS works on the rear brakes?

Or it monitors the brakes when the front wheel is about to lock up?

From my understanding ABS makes a juddering feel as it stops/starts the front wheel.

have you tried to lock up the front wheel. As long as you are on good tarmac, dead straight and about 40mph you should be able to quickly lock the front up for a split second.

If you get the juddering then more than likely you have ABS.

If it has ABS you will see the tacho slots around the inside of one front and the rear disc as well as the extra wiring for the pick-up.

that's not the best idea I've ever heard.... Telling someone to go 40 mph and lock the front break up?? You have got to be kidding me.

Ok. Ok.
I dunno, we used to it all the time - for a laugh and dare i suppose, just give it a little lift on the handlebars, pull and lock it up, get a squeak and move on!

None of us ever dropped it and it's nothing worse than doing it in the wet or snow accidently.

Can't see the big deal in it really. If you're straight as a dye and on good road (aka no dirt/rubble), there should be no problem to lock up the front for a very quick time.

Maybe in the UK we were much better riders and had the ability to sense how our bikes handled, than you lot over there

I'm not saying he just slamms the anchors on and leaves it on to see what happens, Jeeze!

That's was the initial thought lol!
But he should be good as long as he knows when to release that death grip on the brake lever
