Poll Question:
'08 or '09 SE???
I can buy an '09 orange and gloss black SE for $10,200 or an '08 red and flat black for $9400. Both prices are plus 8.16% tax and OTD. Both bikes are new in the crate. As far as I've been able to find out, the '08's and '09's are identical other than the paint. Is that true?
Any opinions as to which is the best deal? Both seem equally good to me. I like both paint schemes about the same. Actually, I'd prefer either solid gloss black or that super-dark blue, but those options are not available.
All responses and votes appreciated.

Get the newer bike because they both will drop in value when you roll them out the door, the 09 will be worth more and I think the orange looks really good.

i agree, get the 09 dude. better resale value. Try to haggle on the 09, im sure he would go lower.

That's not a great price on either bike in my opinion. I gave 10 and change for my 08se in 08 as an example. They have a little over 8600 in the 08. I would test them with an 8700 dollar offer as they need to move it. Take a look at the other bikes I have owened thread and see what the 08 se can look like,I think mine is pretty,but I am biased.

If i were to buy a 09, it would be the purdy pearl green one  Im a sucker for that green.

I would not count for resale. Buy the color you like best! Resale is more affected if there is a true difference or improvement. Color your stuck with unless you do a repaint.

its up to you...everybody talks about resale value...but honestly, if you buy a 14 are you honestly thinking about reselling it righ away...If you are then sure go with the 09...if not grab the 08 and spend the rest of the money on mods...That is just my opinion...

I ended up sitting down and working out a super deal with the guy with the '09 to the point that the difference in price with the '08 was pretty much inconsequential, especially since the dealer with the '08 wouldn't budge and also "forgot" to tell me about a $175 Doc fee that was set in stone too. Screw that! I went with the '09. Yay!! Those purty colors kinda grew on me in the end anyway.
I want to sincerely thank you one and all for your help and opinions. I respect them all and appreciate the fact that you each took the time to give them.
Guess I'm one of "the group" now!

I have the 09 SE as well and love the color. I think either it or the green is the best color of all. Congrats and enjoy!!

I like how the emblems on the Green 09 has a black chrome color to it instead of the usual chrome, i might just buy the emblem to put on my 06 ZX.

Are you talking about the ZX14 eblem on the tail? If so, it is a titanium brownish color on the green 14. Just don't want you to order the 09' emblems and not get black.

Its like a smoked chrome, it looks good.

I tried that & they wouldn't budge. I got the '09 for a couple of hundred more OTD than the '08 since they threw in a set of Gen Mar risers for free and that was on my want list anyway. I'm cool with that & I like the '09 colors a little more than the '08 too, I'm partial to the black wheels especially.
Now, if ONLY the weather will get nice and warm!! It's been a long winter here in CO.
