••••)> I'M NEW TO RIDING , BUT I'M PRETTY SURE MY TIRE SHOULDN'T LOOK LIKE THIS - pics inside
this is the stock tire that came on my 14, the bike now has 2700 miles on it, i have been trying to get use to the bike and get better at turning, i ride 2 up a couple times a week but take an easy with her on the back. you can see the left side is alot more worn and it makes some sense cause i much better at left turns but its more worn then i thought it would be - like i said i'm new ( been riding bikes for 6 months now ) and i'm taking my time learning to corner/lean good... but what would cause my tire to look like this with the rubber coming off.. i know the tire is almost worn and i already ordered a new Michelin sport 200mm, but the tread on the sides is still pretty good, have you seen this happen to this tire before what am i doing wrong, just fyi i never do burnouts or even attempted to.

is your bike tire lined up like it should b? if its not im sure your sprocket will b ate up 2....iv seen front tires look like this but not a back tire....the front usually wears a lil faster on the left side bc roads are noit even and the bikes actually leaning 2 the left a lil while u r riding...make sire ur back tire is lined up properly... u can check this by the lil marks that are on your swing arm..make sure the left and right side read the same amount of marks with the chain being tight

It looks like the bike was ran a while with low air pressures that allowed it to ride on the sides when riding straight. As Chadzx14 said also check the rear axle to make sure its centered, count the punched markings position on both sides. It could also mean the previous owner did a donut burnout going in one direction also. Ive seen stunner bike tires occasionally look like that.

woa dude dont yell when you post..does the bike go straight when you let go of the bars? thats crazy. was it normal wear when you got it? I'd get that tire off of there quick. start fresh. string line the wheels. make sure you still have your wheel weights from balancing. suspension settings? Do a burnout on the other side to catch-up! wear like that should be felt in handling I'd think. welcome to raceland!

If you are new to riding I assume you are Not a biike mechanic. Do Not ride this 14 until
a qualified Tech can check everything. I would not go with a 200 rear if you like to
street ride and play in the turns. Stay with stock tire size.

i have been riding this bike for 2-3 months and put around 2000miles on that tire, gone on 300mile trips and rides with my buddies, this happened to my tire this weekend, i clean my chain and lube it every 500 miles and i check the tire often, i would have seen this before..
here is the aliment, it is a little off, but would that little bit cause that.. and why just this weekend.
my new tire will be in in a day or two i will fix then..
btw the sprocket looks great no wear and it feels straight but i will pay more attention next time i ride

If he likes turns he could go with a 190/55 17 instead of the 190 50 tho.

would the 5s would have a taller center and lower sides then the 50.. is that why it would be better for the corners...
i'm just going to give the 200mm a shot if it sucks i'm going to go back to a stco unless the 55 is better for the turns

Yes the 55 series is slightly taller giving a better "turn-in", it has more meat on the sides where it counts. If drag is your thing the stock 190 works fine. Putting on a tire wider then its designed for will misshapen the tire profile and may result in vague or unpredictable handling so be careful on playing with wider tire sizes.

190-55's are a better/safer choice for deeper lean angles -- they give you a little better footprint off the bead when your knees are down. I don't think that mismatched marks on the swing are a problem - mine are usually a hair off of one another when it's centered, but they'll get you in the general vicinity of alignment and just fine tune from there. The tire wear is definitely odd - looks as if you were banking left all day. If you're chains centered and running "quietly" on the sprockets with no wear to speak of, I'd probably chalk it up to a bad tire.......??.......

True........ speedometer will be off a little. Chain alignment marks are close
enough. Weird for a bike just ridden two up on street.

That looks like my tires after track days and then some street riding. Hence the mass wear on the sides with rubber build up.
Probably at a track with mainly left hand turns.
I'm guessing the former owner put on 'take offs' from a racing supplier or did track days.
If there is rubber build up on the front tires edges I'd bet the bike has seen a few track days not long before it was sold.
For 2 up and street riding I would stay with stock sizes,

One of my clients that just came in my shop for service wears his tires front and rear out on the left side like that. His tires look like that once again ! The bike rides straight and nothing looks out of place .
He says he mostly commutes with it and the roads are straight.
So I'm thinking its a either a bad tire brand he's choosing or something is bent or out of wack someplace.

the bike has never been to the track, i bought with 900 miles on the clock and it was a 3 year old bike. they owner was a crazy rich laywer that just left it locked up in his show room with other awsome cars and choppers...
the under tail looks dirty but not torn up, and the only time i get to lean or turn kind hard on the bike is on and off ramps to the highway... and i guess cause i'm so new i tend to like left turns alot more i just feel weird turning right, i will get better at it over time i hope
maybe i'm pushing the bike harder then i think on the road.. or maybe its a bad tire

yEA.....tires don't wear that much in 900 miles of normal riding so my vote goes for burnouts.

i never even attempted a burn out and please read it all before commenting, i bought the bike with 900miles here is a pic of the back tier like 2 days after i got it
since then i have put about 2000 miles on it and you see at the top what it looks like now..
NO BURN OUTS EVER!!!!. i don't even know if my bike will do them, what if the tire catches i could only imagine what it would be like watch my bike ride off with me on it....

The tire wouldn't catch, and yes your 14 will do one, stopped or rolling.

One thing to consider is the age of the tire and the quality of it. Look at the date code its 4 or 5 years old,and its quality sucked even when new and can't be improving with age.
