ZX14 Turbo Fuel Pump Question
Question on running an external pump on a turbo zx14. I understand I need to run a modified fuel rail, with a return and a regulator. I have read that the stock 14 fuel pump is pulse modulated so I assume the voltage is controlled by the ECU? If that is the case do I have to use a different power source to run my external pump, or can I still use the stock fuel pump power wires?
Thanks for the help. setting up a GT28R to run at 7PSI, will post numbers when I get them.
Thank You!

Just use the stock pump wiring to trigger a relay from battery power.
And no the voltage is not controlled by the ECU. Its just a set static pressure and thats it.
____________
b.w.
zx14, little longer, little louder, little lower.
08 Busa, just a little longer and louder and lower than the 14

yes, what he said!! I also used the stock fuel pump hot wire for my scavage pump . when you turn the key on the ecu cycles the fuel pump (and also the scavage pump) for 5 or 6 seconds. not sure how long but thats close. and then comes on as long as the motors running. keep us posted on those numbers. my 16g @5psi made 250 hp.

I have the OEM fuel rail. Works just fine.
I did mod the fuel tank pump mounting bracket some, for better flow and return feed lines.

If I remember correctly, I cut the tube on the other side about flush. Power to the new external fuel pump is from a relay which triggers when the ignition is turned on. Very simple.

Thanks Guys, sounds easy enough. JDC, you said you used the stock fuel rail, but modded the tank plate for better flow and "return." The stock rail doesn't have a return, did you mod the stock rail for a return?
I'll definately keep you posted on numbers once I get this thing together. It's 70" wb and I had Adams do a shock, cut 1 inch, re-sprung and re-valved. If it hooks, should go pretty good.
Track opens this weekend but I'll have to start the season on my 12 I guess. Running out of parts faster than money is coming in. Welcome to drag racing right? LOL!!
