Timing Advance

Do the Muzzy timing advances actually do anything for this bike? I read that the ecu already advances, retards timing, so how will it affect a "manual" trigger? Do any of you use them? If so any noticeable gains, throttle responce etc?

You need to get the Ivans Performance Dynojet Ignition module to have the timing advanced. He has them already preloaded with a perfect ignition map already. Just buy one from him and plug & play !!!! Definately will see a difference !!!

I was told if use a TRE to cure the pop on decell the advancer at 4 degrees advance gives it more mid range power that the TRE takes away..
so I tried one of Ivans maps made for all and a 4/2/1 taper head pipe exhaust.
Smooth and fast for a street map. I always use 93 pump gas too. Also have Muzzy map
made for TRE and advancer and flies out. Ivans map pulled better doing roll on's.
My guess a Dyno tune here where I ride is best.

Muzzy and Ivan say +4 for stock engine and TRE. Use 92 or 93 pump gas if you can.

Dave Turner is who I got a map from last year for a M14 and all my mod's......look at Ivans site and find dyno charts....shows stock with and with out advancer and where it helped.
guess they have added 1 degree... :-) I have the Ivan map for a Yosh stepped head pipe 4/2/1
and it works great on Muzzy M14 with same design. Tried the Brocks street map to from my other friends SMEG. Ivans map works the best for roll on's here in Fort Worth, about 700 feet above sea level. Need to have a Dyno tune done and see what changes they make.
Sure is smooth down low and pulls hard with no flat spots and any RPM. So I have not spent the $ and just ride it :-) keep 92 pump or better if you can get it with 5 degrees advance.

Hall Effect. Look it up. Do this instead. Install the stock tone wheel and find TDC. Look at the leg and the pickup magnet. Match the leg at the pickup pin and advance from there. That one [tone wheel] leg, cannot move too far away from the [pickup] pin or the Hall Effect will not start the bike you are way off the 'wave' hose, seen your.

Each dash line is about one degree wide, so we almost moved the advance to the first 5 degreet mark. +4 Someday I want to degree the cams but pulling the cams and installing slotted sprockets is a pain and usually not worth the hassle for a street bike with low miles.

Wave Form Library = You want to get heavy writing down what worked and watt not worked.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtqeOYNgn8A Will put most to sleep. More at the end of the vid is the theory of many theories to tone waving.
