ZX14 Tourers and track day riders post up!

Since someone else brought it up.....,
Thought I'd share some photos on my 14's varied life. None of it spent at a drag strip. Hell, I havent even done a real burnout

Set up for track days with track day partner on his 650R. Notice the lowers are off. Havent taped it or pulled mirrors yet in photo. I rode to track that day.

scrapped header pipe & oil site glass from track days.

Changing to Penske shock. Fork mods were done By GP suspension.
Dialed in +1' rear ride height and slid forks DOWN in triple clamps 1/2". No more grinding!

Rode out a 22 mile gravel road to visit my dirt riding Buds. ZX14 will flat track!! After 1st mile I cranked up the preload and dampening!!

And my favorite Hypertouring!!!!!

This bike is so much more than a drag bike.
I live in the hills and rarely go near urban areas. Rarely use the slabs unless in a hurry.
This bike spends its life on backroads.

Just wish I had some shots of Me chasing a Motard in tight twisties. Probably the best riding I've done on Big Red. Cant stuff it under 750s and 600s during track days but could easily hang with liter bikes.

Nice. I plan on going to track next month for first time. I have 11000 on my 07 last year on a lot of country rods as well. A truly great multipurpose bike with comfort for full sized riders. A bags-connection rearbag and I'm ready to travel.

Cool another rider getting much use from the ZX14 . There is a new road race track here in So Cal Chuckwalla a new 2.6 mile track . That just beat the size of Big Willow the fastest track in the West. I would like to check this new track out the ZX14 does pretty good on big tracks.

Since you asked for pictures........
I rode my ZX12R 375 miles over to Maxton complete with Corbin Beetle Bags, sport touring windshield & heli-bars and ran the bike as it was, running 185mph.
Pretty good do-all bike in my opinion-----although not a dirt bike like yours!!

Sir, I do believe you've gone above and beyond kneedraggin' --- I'd touched my pipe and pegs a few laps the first time I got my 14 to the track, but never managed to tap a case cover!! That's about the limit right there -- Awesome.........and I'm pretty sure you've exhausted virtually all possible uses for this bike just short of drag.........so now you just hit the strip, warm the rear, and pull one pass = Done it all!!

Sorry OLD GUY, I just reread the topic title and you were asking about 14's.....I apologize.

I have had two 14's though, they are simply the best bikes out there. I had to make room for other toys and have since sold them.
Both my sons have 14's.

Oh yeah, just like my t-shirts say..................OLD GUYS RULE !!

man, you 1320 haters think we draggers can't do twisties. LOL....love doing trackdays, just too damn expensive for me. Tires, track expenses, and travel/lodging just to go...racks up about 400-500 bucks for just a single day at the track. I normally run advanced group on race tires or just intermediate on normal street tires. All fun as hell. Never taken my 14 to a trackday, just mountain riding in northern AR and southern MO. Would be a hoot power sliding out of corners though....

Aint hating and never said draggers can only ride on the strip. Get over that misconception, 1/4 pounder.
The motard ride I mentioned was chasing a drag racer on his tard.

Just wanted to start a POSITIVE thread about our bikes ability to do other things.
I understand most of the members here drag race.
Hell, look at the other 14 sites. This IS the Serious site about 12s and 14s. Period.
When I was considering a Bonneville Run I came here.
If I do the Mojave Mile next year I'll be asking questions HERE.

Oldkawboy, no worries, love any adventure you share!

I really just love the biggest baddest Kawi built. Yea the cruisers have more CC's but these beasts are so versatile (12s too)
I'm just a Kawasaki nut. Since 1972...,hopeless lol
Had a track only bike and it dam near killed Me. (120 mph highside 1st time out)
Raced MX a long time ago and did street drags with a 76 KZ900.
I've had more fun with this bike than any I've had before. And theres been a few.
I'm like oilfieldtrash and niner9.
Just enjoy it Baby!

LOL thanks. Also ground the kickstand, shifter tip and coolant hose and clamp on other side. Wore out my toe pads on my boots trying to keep from grindin on the bike.. My suspension mods helped tremendously.
Track days are the only SAFE place to really push the limits on hiPo bikes IMO. I learn so much about Me and my bike each time out.
But as 1/4pounder mentioned its horribly expensive. Tires and track day fees are too much for Me right now. Plus I'm 54 and will consider going to motards on kart tracks for getting my pavement thrills. My reflexes dont match the speeds I can achieve on the track. Hard to be humble but gotta be real.

A few nights at the strip with my motard riding drag racer buddy WILL happen.
The Mojave Mile and a 200 mph is also on my'bucket list'.

Love carving mountain twist in these here Appalachians. Wish I would have thought about taking off the lowers, easy to rash the bump outs when really cooking, Last May I rode mine thru W.V., Ky., Tenn., to Georgia, NC to do the Dragon (got the teeshirt LOL). Over 1500 miles of pure paridise in three days. Unfortunately I'm going to have sell my 14 because financial issues. Sucks, I love this bike.
