The only real true answer my dumb ass can come up with is pull a little timing if your gonna spray, and be sure you got good valve springs , and a window switcch so you don't get into the limiter, and think seriously about going wet on nos but ,oops you're already going pretty darn fast ! or - Gear it up too with the wet kit , and wheelie less , and get more mph too? Don't give up on that disease you got !

There is not a Gen 2 clutch in my bike. It's a MTC multi stage lock-up. LOL

I honestly am not trying to be rude but has the same person built all 4 motors? I just don't see you grenading 4 motors unless something is not right, I mean if it were me I would have tried a different builder after the second one or tried a different NOS setup. You said you were spraying off the line, are you running a progressive box?

No sir! The same persone has not built all my motors. This one was not built. The second motor was out of AK and the first was in the Carolinas. Not putting company's out there because I do not believe in putting people down like that and they all had great service. It's just part of racing. no progressive!

Thanks man. I will take that into consideration but I seriously think I am done. It was not a figure of speech when I said I was almost in tears. I was litterally almost in tears. I think the long walk down the return road helped calm be down when I picked my pitbike up!

The reason I ask is just to learn from peoples experiences. There is a guy at my track with a zx10 that has a close to 15 passes total on 3 different stroker motors. I just scratch my head and wonder when someone gives up or changes something.

Theres something wrong here. Ive sprayed the shit out of my 06. See whats happening to these motors. Tear it apart. Do you ever check plugs? I hate dyno readings. I like seeing how its actually burning. Let me know if you part. i might buy something. Or if ya need anything.

Tommy's been spraying a 40 shot for a long time now. It's all in the tuning if you want it to last. Nightmare you should just take one of those blown up motors and do a 2mil and headwork. You would probably be faster and no NOS to F with.

WOW we were just talking about that. Maybe this is a sign but honestly, I will still spray. Grudge racing. I need every edge I can get.

MRX01 is hard to tune for spray.
did you check AF on a dyno or data logger?
If so watch your A/f when you get into the limiter or the 186mph (speedo), gearing changes real speed. The ECU is doing crazy stuff when you get near any limiter. Ask RR about some to the soft cuts and hard cuts. He is pretty deep into the code.

Sorry for your loss, but I've been in your shoes before.
Give it a couple weeks before you make a decision in haste.
Good luck whatever you decide to do.

Nightmare first of all congrats on the numbers.... 5.51 is moving on a stock motor...
Secondly, dont throw in the towel..... Give it some time and come back stronger.....
Like others have said I would think that since this is motor number 4. Its gotta be something in your tune...

Drag Racing is an on the edge sport and Grudge Racing is where the limits are pushed even more. How fast do you feel a stock motor should go before it lets go?

I agree with what everybody else is saying. The zx14 has as strong of a motor as any. Your problems won't be solved by getting another bike. It's not the bike, it's the tune/rider. Good luck though with whatever you do.

Since your local. and just asking. do you have a window switch on the NOS system? are you going in to tthe Rev limit with the spray on? This will beat the rod bearings out fast. A 1000 will be worse. Jack ran a full 2 seasons with a 50 shot and never hurt the motor. Plus if you are buying used stock motors you have no idea if it came from one of the Biker Boy type riders who think it's cool to turn it up on the Rev limiter while sitting still in netural. For track use on used motors first thing we do is put new Rod bearings in them and make sure the oil pickup is clean. I loved my 14's but I swapped back to a Busa for track use just because they are so cheap to build and parts are everywhere. They are kind of like the Small Block chevy of motorcycles. You should build a motor and stop buying used ones to race with.

That's what I was thinking you can't spray that much and not expect to hurt stock motors pass after pass. that's why I index and bracket race. Just not interested in spending tons of money on racing anymore

I did for like 3 months... tommy does...and all we do is bump the pc 12% rice on the high side

I am certainly not an expert but I have watched you leave and you leave hard. I would look at fuel first and by that I mean the map as well as the fuel. If you do not have a good map I do not care who builds the motor you are going to hurt it. I bought my bike new in 06 and have been spraying it practically from day one. I have hundreds of nos passes and like I stated in a past post I wanted to be on the safe side and pulled the head last year and my engine builder said it looked great. Another thing to look at is windage, with you pulling 1.29's that is putting all your oil in the back of your pan, my dragbike only 60'd 1.29 and I had a gate in there to prevent this. Nightmare I hate to see you go to a liter bike and worse yet a Busa. Its good to have a rider of your level on our side. I think if you were to get Ryan or someone very good to map your bike I don't see any problems with a 50 shot. I run Sunoco 93 octane and let it eat!

did you change valve springs out

I just wanna know how/why valve springs would need to be replaced on a motor with STOCK lift and running STOCK rpm?

I zing a true dyno proven 90hp into my sled engine (1000cc R1 motor more the less) and hold it at 11200 rpm for 13 or 14 seconds at a time....maybe slightly longer! On 91 OCTANE.
