Gains with New Map
After reading Smokin's post on E85 I decided to try it for myself. My previous map was made with a Brocks ShortMeg and XXX race fuel. My bike dynoed at 182hp. Over the winter I swapped out the ShortMeg for a Brocks sidewinder and the head cleaned up at OSR in Logansport. I filled the tank with E85 and headed back to Del's Performance in Brownsburg. The first 2 pulls were 185 with the A/F ratio goin crazy. After putting the baffle in and adding some fuel the A/F straightened out and made 187. A couple more pulls and he easily got 190hp. Now time to get to the track for some seat time before racing starts.
I would like to the Shannon and Bob at OSR and Del Flores at Del's Performance for dynoing my bike after a late flight to Indy.

Did you get a valve job with the head clean up?.

You may see some more hp if you switch back to an oxygenated race fuel, as opposed to the E85.
E85 is not typically known for making more power than good oxygenated race fuels.
The head clean up (any milling?), valve job, and sidewinder could amount to 10 hp peak on their own.

+1
I am hoping to be able to do a same day comparison on e85 soon. I don't know if it will happen or not, but I will try.
Sounds like good results though either way!

For sure, I agree. That's what Del said also. With some Q16 I could easily make more. But.... For $2.20 a gallon. Can't beat it.

I would not use Q16 but i sure would try some MR12 .. Q16 is 116 octane and may kill some HP ..

MR12 sounds good; I'm curious about how much compression it can handle.

I don't know much on the differant fuels, for now the E85 will work fine til it's time for new rings. Then maybe some drop in pistons and valve springs.

I think the e85 is a great way to go and it's cheap too... I just wish i didn't have to drive 300 miles round trip to get it ..If we had e85 in town i would run it ..

Ive been using it for about a year or more I picked up only 3hp but the bike runs a lot safer due to the higher octane and the gas is cheaper than regular gas and its about 5-10 mins away from my house!

I imagine you could get even more hp with full timing control

Had open test day at ORP in Indy today, went well. Ran a new pr in both 1/8 with a 5.71 and 1/4 with a 8.93. The 16/48 combo too much for me! I'm going back to 17/48 to crazy for me off the line.

I scrapped the E85 idea, running the injectors at 98% duty cycle not good, started running out of fuel. Switched back to pump gas and went 8.83 @ 151 and 5.63 @ 125 in the 1/8

the 440 cc injectors with stock pump pressure ... 190 hp may be pushing it . I was running 70 psi and could go 200 hp on my bike.
But now there are a few options for reasonably priced injectors. I found some 660 cc injectors for under 300 bucks, 550 cc injectors for around $270 . I ran the 660 cc injectors over the weekend and i only had to add 10 to the PC3 map over 10k.

Well I did find a place that is within 200 miles but the station is on the Express Way south of Orlando. PITA to get to.
