MTC drop-in Pistons are junk
i purchased a set ran 10 passes @7lbs of boost .. motor started smoking like van Ryan's express .. pulled the pistons .. rings were stuck... yes ring('S) LIKE ALL OF THEM .. Called MTC .. Sent pistons to MTC ..got a call today .. MTC said the pistons warped and distorted and it was my fault for putting NOZ flat top pistons in a 7lb boost turbo motor .. i told him for 2 years i ran stock piston with up to 14lbs of boost .. Cliff then told me stock pistons have a better top ring land ..and that's why the stockers lasted ..Well if them MTC pistons can't with stand 270hp ..then whats going to happen when somebody sprays a 140 shot of NOZ .. oh and don't let me forget when i was ordering my pistons for a turbo bike ..MTC recommended these pistons along with the 2mm shorter turbo pistons .. and when i got the pistons they sent the wrong wrist pins ..
my dealing with MTC is over never again..

wow... thats bad news.
so you weren't using their turbo piston?
10.5:1 dished for -2mm rods?
same ones Mr Turbo developed?

I think he was running a drop in domed piston ? I may be wrong but when i talked to him on the phone he said 12.5.1 piston ? I may have just heard him wrong ..

there called drop-in 12.5 1 flat tops NOZ pistons .. and they have more deck height than the 10.5 1 turbo pistons .. from what i was told by MTC

Robert,
Attached are the pictures you requested.
The tall deck pistons need the 2mm (0.080”) shorter rods and they are actually only 0.065” taller and then they are 0.015” in the hole to get the lower compression.
The “Drop In” piston is designed for nitrous application because the top ring land has been moved down compared to the stock pistons.
If you have any questions, please let us know.
Thank you,

Something doesn't make sense here. How is a nitrous piston with more meat above the ring land going to be more fragile than stock? At the same time, what was your final compression ratio? Why did you go with high compression in a turbo application??

you ever try launching low compression turbo bike and use it for ET racing .. thats why i went with high if you want to call 12.5 1 when stock is 12.0 1 .. i wanted to replace the stock piston with what i taught was a better piston ... but it didn't work and i think in most part because of no r&d by MTC ..
AND I WANTED TO RUN LOW BOOST

12.5:1 sure seems high to me, but maybe I'm just conservative like that. Maybe have a custom set made by CP?

Well, I said before Robert, you are a very tenacious person. I would have gave in to a big bore stroker a long time ago.
I will not be fucking with mine as much as you did yours, I don't have the time , money or patience.
wish me luck?
PS I posted my piston findings, I think you will find no matter what the build, there is allot to consider when looking at pistons, and much much more to measure...

got my warped and distorted pistons back today from MTC ..big time junk .. the piston wall between #2 ring and oil ring is to thin and warps .. and from what MTC told me colby adams buys these pistons by the truckload and makes them work .. on NA bikes with noz that is .. i'm installing the shitty stocker back in it ..

AND YES THEY ARE STILL FUCKING JUNK
