New Pilot Power tire install and it rubs???
I just put a new Michelin on(190/50/r17) and I found that it rubs very slightly on the chain gaurd mounting bracket. I've replaced several tires(from 2cts and dunlop) but this is the 1st time that I had a rub issue. I am stretched 63 1/2 inches and the outer rib of the tire happens to be in line with this bracket. I just removed my Dunlap Road smart(please, don't buy this tire for a 14 unless you ride very conservative) and I never had a problem with this clearance issue. I think that in about 2-3 miles it will burn the little rubber off but I'm very anal about my bike and I have always kept it in prestine appearance and working order. The wheel is 100% straight( measuring all of the respective distances and looking at the rotation of tire). I can turn the tire by hand(with some resistance/grab) in neutral but I can't spin it like I use to be able to upon installing a new tire(with the wheel rotating freely at least a full rotation and a 1/2)
My chain gaurd is still stock, for now.... Any suggestion or am I being too critical?

Get an aftermarket chain guard. The aftermarket chain guard does not use that inside piece. I actually used a dremel to cut the tack weld and took that bracket off. It does not sound like something you would want to do though. Mine never rubbed but was very close.

Got it, thanks. I installed the rim Yesterday evening and it was getting dark VERY quickly. I looked at it this morning and everything is where it should be.

Some tires run wider then others even given the same size. My 180 55 17 BT002 on my gixxer looks like a 160 tire. The 190 50 BT016 looks almost like a 200 tire.

I never had an issue at stock wheel base but I'm a bit stretched and the rib line of the tire is directly parallel to the bracket. I let the tire spin for 3 minutes and it's fine. Thanks fellas!
