you can't run a 14 hard enought to hurt it unless it was low on oil, your bike is not hurt. like shane suggested you may have an exhaust leak that is causing the tapping sound. if you have a brock map and exhaust your mapping is not the problem. my bike has 13000 miles and dynos like new. if it is making a noise that bugs you take it to the motor builder guy(or other experienced zx14 rider) and let him listen to it.
