Bike hasn't been run for days but I hear fan? noises every once in a while. HELP?
I can't figure this out! I will be in the garage for hours then suddenly I hear a fan? or pressure noise coming from the ZX. Its happended enough that I am wondering how its happening when I'm not near it. No! its not haunted! thanks for any help.

Is it pressure escaping from the gas cap. I know mine whistles all the time........ but only right after it's been running.

Sometimes out of the blue I hear gay porn music but only when he is around.

Could one or both of you explain the rod bearings answer please? The bike only has 12K miles and is never abused! thanks

There are only a few conditions that would cause the described sounds, and my gut feeling is rod bearings. You will have to start the bike to know for sure.

Have you ever had problems with your battery being dead after the bike sits for a long time?

definately rod bearings. if you spun them, they sound like an electric fan when they are totally stationary....... 
when your bike makes noises, IS THE FAN ON? this is pretty easy to check......

I agree!!! It does sound like rod bearings! If thats not it check the time delay sensor.

If it is not the rod bearings it might be an exhaust leak. I still put my money on Steve.

thanks for all the input, the fan is not on when I hear it, the battery has never been dead, I can go start it right up now and it sounds the same as when new. I don't think the exhaust is leaking but I will check. How would I check the rod bearings?

By any chance have you pissed Salsa off recently? Are you feeling any anal discomfort? When you rode the bike last did you get off on the left or right side? When the bike makes this noise is the valve stem up or down? When you shut the bike off do you leave the high beam switch on? Are you canadian? Are you related to H2? Have you ever had a sexual fantasy about a monkey, shovel, yellow rose and Steve?
You need to give us more info so we can nail this down for you.

That looks like major surgery for an old man with no tools and less ability. It starts and runs fine so I guess I won't look for trouble. Not Canadian, and I always get off the left side but that is a great picture of Steve Thanks

I would expect this from Bawls or others,but Shane man this is a new low here. Ulock the gas cap and leave it cracked while your in the shop.bet she will be as quiet as a church mouse. +1 to Gilber I think he wins the prize for grimlin busting.

Don't worry about it , It's your PC3 doing warmer weather update's, their sent from the Power Comander web satalite !!
What ever you do don't open the gas tank lid while it's in the update mode!
