New to the forums
Hey guy i been browsing the forums for a while now a decided to join, unlike majority of the forums i looked at this one have the most helpful information and people. Im considersing a 14 over a gsxr1000 because of the riding i like to do but I have a couple questions about the zx that i cant seem figure out...
1. How good will this bike hold up for daily city riding?
2 .How bad is the overheating during city riding?

I've got 18k in a year and a half on my bike along with 250-300 passes down the drag strip and haven't had a single problem with mine. I rode it from NE Texas to San diego and it was great. As for the over heating... I've never had mine puke, but with the stock pipes it got up to the top bar a couple of times in stop and go. as long as you're moving it's not bad at all. there are a couple of options that you can do to address that as well. One is putting a second fan on, and the other is putting a zx10 front fender on (which takes modified fender brackets). All in all, It's pretty hard to find a better all around bike than the 14.
welcome to the boards. There's a wealth of information here. Just don't get your panties in a wad if people give you a hard time. There are some pretty big jokesters on here :P.

i had a zx12 back in high school i just wanted a bike to weave in and out of cars and show off not knowing how to ride at all now that i've settled down i want to get back into the bike works my choices is the 14,busa, and the gsxr-1000 my first thought was to get the cheapest one and go with that but after hours of searching all of them are about the same price range(give or take a few hundred bucks)

I believe you can get zx14s for much cheaper then suzuki 1k's. The zx14 is easier to ride, more comfortable, and easier to maintain. Better imo.
my good friend has a k7. He wishes he would have gotten a zx14.

i never rode a 1k of the 14 but i sat on both and the 14 does feels a little better. I priced the insurance a couple months back and for me it will cost $215 a month for a 1k and for the 14 it will cost $274 for 6 months

If you are undecided between the zx14 and the Busa I would take the 14 hands down. It is really a bulletproof bike. The 1000 is a completely different bike. The 1k will out handle the 14 but does not have the HP of the 14. The 1000 is very uncomfortable compared to the 14. I like the 1k but love my 14.

i stupidly went to a suzuki dealership and asked about a 14 and the guy said if im just going to ride around the city get a 1k or 750 then he said the only guys that get 14's are the guys who tour and that statement kinda put the 14 lower on my list. the he recommended the busa because it is more customizable

Welcome first of all. Second, asking us which is better is about like asking the Suzuki dealer which one is better. I had a 636 before owning 2 zx14's. I wouldn't go back to another 600/1000. But everyone has their own opinion. Comfort, 14 all the way . The 750/1000's are going to handle a little better because they weight 100lbs less.

This is the best bike ive ever had. Ive ridden a few 1K's and it always seemed you had to ring it's neck to get it perform. The power band is too high for me. I like low end torque and the feel of horsepower as opposed to rpm induced power...which the 14 can do gladly. It likes to be lugged..pick any gear really. roll on's get you where you want to be in traffic instead of searching the tranny constantly for the gear you wished you found sooner. Im barely 165 unsuited and it's a little tricky backing and feet up slow manuevering. With a little time spent it's all good. street rider here... welcome btw! lots of old posts are full of info

About two years ago I was in the market to buy a left over Busa. I called all over and found a few left over zx14's at much better deals then left over Busa's. Ended up getting a great deal on a left over 14 and I'm so glad I did. The 14 handles great and the brakes are way better then the Busa's. Lets not forget the addicting brutal forward acceleration at the twist of the wrist. Go with the 14 and you won't be dissapointed!!! Good luck

Welcome to the forum
I can probably ride my gsxr 750 for one hour max before I need a rest,
don't even feel the slightest discomfort on the 14 in that time.
I would suggest you ride both the 14 and the gsxr 1000 and decide what works better for you,
they are quite different machines. Both are more bikes than most of us are riders if that's a concern for you, fast just starts to describe any of them.
BTW my vote would go to a K8 zx10r as you can probably find a nice used one in the realm of $6K

I hear the ninja 250 is a killer ride. Why spend all that money on a big bike? Tires, chains, upgrades, all that kills your wallet. Go practical, get ten times the gas mileage & tire life on a smaller bike. No need to upgrade, it's too fucking slow to matter anyway. Go green save the planet, pick up chicks with your savvy new ring ding! Bigger isn't always better. Just way fucking more fun! Welcome aboard

The over heating isn't an issue unless the bike is brand new.
After the 1st few oil changes s he'll be good.
She does run warm around the tank area where your knees and inner thighs are in the summer though.

i joined a busa forum and a gsxr forum and i noticed that everyone is committed to their bike and hates the other side, the gixxer dudes hates the busa guys and it goes on from there...i found it hard to get an unbiased opinion on the bikes
