Considering a "2010" Hyabusa or Gixxer?

Think again. Sazook giving up on USA market, and pulling the plug on AMA racing

Both seem to be great bikes (2009 models); I wouldn't let this impact my buying decision.

Fact is suzuki is OUT of the USA market, and pulled the plug on AMA racing.

For Suzuki to pull out of America for 2010, and pull out of AMA racing, its a big deal.

My post count is of-topic. But to address that, I'll just say there's obviously no need to boost it

Looking at their road racing track record they were better off pulling out than continuing to fail miserably

The litre bikes are the japs best selling products. Suzuki is simply avoiding the humbling the others will endure in 2010 by Aprilia and BMW (on both the race tracks and the sales floors)

Damnit man! That's not good especially since Mladin and Spies had ruled American Superbike for years and years aboard the yoshi zuki's -- that's a lot of wins over the last decade for suzuki

Didn't get to follow sportbike class last year too much - just wasn't enough room on my DVR to get those on too........how'd Danny Eslick end up performing with the mighty Buell?
Sorry, didn't mean to change the subject matter -- just curious since he was pointing well in the early part of the season.

what does racing have to do with sportbike sales in the U.S.? most folks in this country drag race. i haven't followed superbikes since freddy spencer rode one...and kenny roberts... and eddie lawson....the "factory bikes" are as exciting as formula one(not exciting racing) as far as i am concerned. they need to do a motorcycle racing thing with stock bikes as the beginning point. like the old superbike races.

whether you drag race the busa or road race the 600, its not happening with 2010 Suzuki's in America, nor are they factory sponcering racing.

They did have a HUGE following of AMA road racing racing and won about every race. They sold a lot of gixxer 1K's and 600's as a result. Many more 1K's and 600's than the Hyabusa for '08 and '09.

Yes, I do. 99 out of 100 people that are in the market for a litre bike would rather spend $8-9K for a new jap leftover and mod it to their taste and needs (track and/or street) rather than drop $16K on a BMW. Why?
Because that same BMW will get destroyed on the track by a jap 1000 with $6-7K worth of mods- say Ohlins suspension and BST wheels.

Same stuff goes on at my local tracks- the guy on the 1098 gets walked by the guys on the 600 and 750 cc bikes.
I see it every single time I'm at the track.
I also know for a fact that there will be at least two new BMWs at Loudon NH this season,
I'll make sure I post my findings after I run with them a few times,
my 750 will be built to kick ass and take names by then

I agree that the racing industry plays quite a part in production bike sales vs. season points standings in comparison to what brands excel in those standings - whether that be road racing or drag racing or supercross/motocross racing or flat track racing or supermoto racing.....etc. Another reason I'm baffled by them pulling out all together.......BUT, American Suzuki's been a winning brand for a LONG time now, and I'm certain their market strength is a reflection of that. There are a LOT of GSXR's on the road and that number has grown exponentially compared to the other brands of the "big 4" just in the last decade.......and I have faith that it was contributed ( in part ) by the efforts of Yoshimura Suzuki's team and moreso their virtually flawless riders at that time. To my knowledge, no other team in history has accomplished this feat, all other teams strived to just try and keep up........phenomenal IMO. Now it's looking like the Boz Bros. will have a great shot at getting Yamaha's ratings up......but we'll see who can do what when the green flag flies -- c'mon, lets get the season going already!!

prob is the amount of '09's sitting in show rooms around america almost equals our nations deficit.

they gave up on us entirely for 2010, both racing and selling bikes.

good news is Aprilia and BMW are bring new products to market for 2010. Who cares about suzuki.

more will soon fall since japs have up'd their prices
