'09 Flies out - first ride
I pulled the flies on my 09 (UK) model about a month ago, but due to the snow and ice I hadn't actually ridden it on the road. With some dry roads now available, I thought I'd take it out and see how it goes. (I've been itching to do this ever since I pulled the flies!!!).
My first impressions are that the bike runs a lot smoother, it's much easier to ride in town and most significantly there is much more power and torque lower down the rev range, at least that's what my ass-dyno is telling me.
I've never ridden an 06/07 model so I can't compare it to the to the difference on that bike, but I thought it was a well worthwhile exercise for the 09 model. I won't be putting them back in, that's for sure!
I have a Power Commander V and autotune, so it will take some time to create a new map, but hopefully things can only get better!!

Very cool! I've never had anyone say it wasn't worth pulling their flies yet at my shop and I thinks it's safe to say I won't ever lol!
I still can still remember what it felt like when I pulled the flies on my 06
That was a serious gain!
on pulling your flies.

He didn't ask his wife about that before he posted.

I didnt put them back in.Its not a free mod like they all want to tell you.You will need a pc then a map or a dyno tune.Thats not free. With a dyno and pc 5 you will be into it for 500 when its all over. You can save a ltlle with a free map if you can find one that works.636 you need a new line.

Not a line, just the truth.
Back to the free mod. You need a pc if your going to change your exhaust anyway. So yes it still would be a free mod. Depending on the exhaust you buy, you can get a map for free. Still a free mod.

An interesting view: I definitively felt that the bike was pulling stronger for the same throttle opening. The bike responds better to the throttle. Around town was much easier, less jerky.
Of course it could be that I just want it to be better than before, and it’s all in the mind!!

I like mine with butter. Ready?
Look, No Way am I a tuner. Tuners: Port things, time cams, setup ignitions and all that turbo tuning. I am not that guy. I'm more a, "tune my bike up like it used to run new" kind of tune is that kind of tune up guy.
Taken from Ivan's website:
# TRE-006A - $60.00
2006 - 2008 ZX-14
# Requires sub-throttle plate removal & special mapping.
# Gets rid of fuel shut-off on decell -
This will allow smooth on/off throttle transitions and will get rid of the annoying pop when the throttle is reapplied.
# Gets rid of part throttle timing retarder in lower gears.
Someone asked a question about the tre and a pop. This "-shut-off on decell-" is to question that move. I have to prove myself to you every step of the way that you are telling me I need a PC or damage my engine in some way. Every throttle rap you can hear on that video is open throttle body assembly. WOT I mean buy that is the, PC vs. Flysubsay it's lean [I remove flies]. OK, if I am in a lean state how is that bike still running with 10K on the OD. A bike without the flies in place, not even the rod to hold the plates, nor the stepper motor, I have a clean dash; free of codes. Are you with me so far?
This is my dyno room. I need more room, but this will do. Catch the car in front of me I could not throw a good wax job at the corners. Catch the white box or something I wax the rail, I had to back off of that one too. This is more how I ride this bike whenever I am out on it is rip the road home I am safer off the streets I speed it up a little is less time with the metal in the other lane coming at me.
Are you with me so far? Almost since day 1 on the first gen 14, I had throttle-flies out of the bike. At the time, I rode Ivan on the net more than I rode the bike. There was no one to turn to about me screwing up my own bike. I sure was not about to let anyone mess with my bike [kind of a guy]. All I did was question; what the heck is a tre?
OH, you mean that I've been away from the bike long enough for the tech to pass me buy? The time I bought a 14, what the heck is fuel injection [doing on the bike] kind of surprise I start to ride again. Crash it, buy another one and keep playing with the bike. I have nowhere to go with the tune. Can't compete I should have my grand kid [for argument sake I have none] out trying the waxOnwaxOff I'm old. Old school tuning, old school toe tapping is all I got left [foothat pun in].
In other words, I am opening that throttle a whole bunch of times where it should have dropped dead it was so lean IS SOMEONE SAYING THAT then STEP UP. I have plenty of pops and throttle rips. I have pops at all rpm's range. I have hours of beat that 14 I'm waiting for a rod to let go but no way hose say I keep waxing the bike all nice and tight. If the first few seconds of sound did not look like I came off that rail sort of lean damaging, I'll paint da fence...... UP...... DOWN........ UPPPPPPP........ DOWNnnnnnn...........................POP!
Pop is piss on that theory is Ivan? Someone gonna tell Ivan that is not the setup I need a PC is listen to that crisp engine note without a pop I need a PC. And with that note, I will let you dispute the lean to me I hurthe bike. I holed a piston. I blew the rings out. I blew out the pop is what a tune up did eye did is all I did....... I did.
DID you sort of understand both the hand throttle WOTTill " I got arm pump in the 3rd moto?" Lean is mean is now the pop is eliminated and no tre is gonna help I slide this under the radar come get me is come get you linears like the old days is same ol' shit skis give me that leanshitty-shitty-bang-bang-wang-tang-treeeeeeeeeeeeasy now. YOu wanted pop corn and I am ass cornball ass they come.
Laideezz and gents, I pee-cents the option you need a PC like I need to pea in the sea hold my crotch run to the tide look out for my bladder matter.
