Shock Question

I am going to be getting my shock done by Coby. I was wondering what anyone thought about keeping the stock spring? I only weigh 130-135 lbs. I am leaning towards keeping the stock spring due to my weight. One of Cobys guys told me on the phone that I would probably be ok without the heavier spring. I just don't like the word probably after I put it all back together. Thoughts?

most of the springs i hear about are heavier. sounds like at your weight the stockers would be dead on. the stock spring is known for being mushy.

I'd think the stock spring would be fine as well. I know at my weight (160) I am right on the bubble for a stock spring.

LITZ racing does the shocks for Coby. They should be able to give you the answer. They will need your info.( weight, lowering links, wb, gearing, power, and if you want it shorten or not etc). I spoke with them about my rear shock; nice people IMO.http://www.litzracing.com/

What kind of price are you looking at to get a shock revalved and where at some good places to look into?

He's stretched out to 65" though. I would think a stiffer spring would be in order but what the hell do I know? LOL I've got a spare shock out to Traxxion right now. Can't wait to get it back and try it out.

I called LITZ and her referred me back to Coby. Very cool guy but all he does is build the shock to Cobys requested spec. It sounded like he knew nothing about drag racing. As far as his website goes it's looks to be a dirtbike shock company. I am ordering my shock today from Coby. I spoke to Coby and he said my factory spring is perferct for my weight.

Litz is very reputable and revalves them through Adams Performance. The cost is $300. That does not include a spring.

Well, I pulled my spring and mailed it to Coby Adams on Tuesday. I recieved it back on Friday the same week. It was revalved by Litz for sure because Litz puts their sticker on the top of the shock. I have never had a revalved OE shock so I really don't know what to expect. The only shock I have ever owned was a Fox on my 600. I also want to know if it will sag as much when I launch? If not I will lower my bike down to 3" inches of clearance. I will let you all know the results. On my 600 I was able to lower the bike to only 1 inch ocf tire clearance. I know the 14 will sag much more than that due to the HP difference...Current best 60' is 1.38 on the stock shock and spring. I will let you all know if my 60ft improves.
