How do I get the spring off the shock?

I have already taken the shock out of the bike. I will be home in about 3 hours and Im jumping on this myself. I can get the spring compressed, but I wanted to talk to someone that has done this before. Just making sure before I run into something that gets me stuck.. Thanks for any info on this subject!

Ok that went a lot easierthan planned. Very simple. I used 8 hose clamps and it was not a lot of pressure on any of them. The only problem I ran into is the spring came with a metal sleeve that sits on the bottom of the spring. If you use the sleeve, you can't use the plastic cover that is protects the shock shaft from gettig dirt on it..

I didnt use any sleeve with my busa spring, just the plastic one that comes on the 14 shock.

you know how that plastic thing is shaped at the base, where it goes under the spring? This flange is the same shape at that, just metal. With my driveway being almost 1/2 mile dirt I think I need that cover protecting the shock... Wouldn't you think?

Thanks kawijocky for the quick response!

Got the shock mounted back in place and it might just be me, but I can't tell a lot of difference. I didn't lower it anymore, but with the stock shock the tire was hitting the undertail pretty good.

If you put an 08-09 busa spring on, you will definately be able to tell. Are you sure it is the newer busa spring?

It's an Eibach 13.8kg/in from Racetech. I could tell a huge difference on my bike, but he's a little longer and heavier than me.

I will have my 06-07 zx10 wheels in this week. We are going to try and build a kit to do this swap -- as soon as the wheels are here we will start in on them.

Just weighed the 14 wheels --

Front with rotors (no spacers) 17.4 lbs

Rear with rotor/ sprocket carrier (no sprocket or spacer) 22 lbs

i will post same measurements with the 10 wheels
