busa spring

What is the best combo for the rear? Busa spring and 14 shock or all busa?

They say it's helps a lot. I hope to find out this weekend! Revalvong and a stiffer spring is the best bang for your buck.

Yes it is stiffer and helps stop bottoming out when dragracing for bigger fellows on extended swingarms.

P.S top left hand corner is a search box.....

Adding a stiffer spring to a shock with an already limited damping ability is not ideal. Do some investigation into how a drag racing shock differs from a standard or road racing shock.

For best results, you would definitely want to revalve the shock.

The 14 shock with the busa spring is good only if you are 200Lbs or more but if you're lighter you will have wheelie problems!

I'm wandering how much lower I can go with a new spring? Maybe 1" or 1 1/2"?

That's an excellent way to achieve even less rebound control!

I'll take less rebound control over bottoming my bike out on the fuel pump. Judging from the videos of my bike, my stock shock with racetech 13.8 is doing it's job pretty well. Obviously a penske or ohlins or having my stock shock revalved would be ideal, but for the amount of money that I had to spend it wasn't in the cards for me. The way that I see it, if I can ride it fast the way it is, when I get the parts that I "need" it'll be that much easier. I'm also one of those guys that believes in changing one thing at a time and getting the most out of it before changing something else.

Well, there are certainly a lot of ways to skin a cat. Smokin goes 8.60's with a bone stock shock, right?

When I rebuilt the bike last winter, I put in a used 08 style fuel pump to gain extra clearance without limiting the suspension travel. Perhaps you have your bike slammed more than mine out back?

Just to give an idea, on a real drag shock the rear suspension may still be lifting at the 1000' mark or beyond. As you know, increasing preload without more rebound will make the shock more likely to pogo up and down. But, bottom line, the most important thing is that it works for you!

How much is the racetech spring, new?
