last nights limited racing results (new best time!)

I got out to the track again last night, first time since mid November. The place was packed and I only managed 3 passes but I did cut a new personal best.

The only changes I've made to the bike since I was last at the track was to lower it 3/4" in the front and 1.5" in the rear. The first 2 passes were kind just a shake down run & I had not launched the bike hard since lowering it so I really didn't know what to expect.

I went 9.78 @ 145
1.67 60'
4.29 330'
6.40 @ 116.46mph in the 1/8
8.23 in the 1000'

I know that there's some more to be had being that now I can really use the throttle in 1st gear. I think i can still shave .10-.15 off that time with getting familiar again with the potential use of 1st gear.

With the pipe, lower gearing is just too much. Try going back to stock gearing, or maybe even 17/40 and you'll get more out of first gear. I can't remember... how much do you weigh?

+1 on the gearing. When I was swb I put a 16t sprocket on the front and hated it. I couldn't get it to run a fast consistant time for nothing..

I weigh in at 198-204lbs in undies, and yeah , I know that the 16t is not working in my favor but rememberthe thread I posted about 5-6 weeks ago? I couldn't get that F'er off !!! I have to try the 2x4 method once I buy a new socket to replace the one I broke by hand.

I'll be looking forward to running a 17/42 combo and learning how hard I can launch the bike now that it's lowered.

+2 on the gearing. We're about the same weight, I run stock wheelbase and lowered, I got 9.84 foot-shifting geared 17/40 for LSR. ( and I hardly ever do quarters these days, so I'm not exactly in practice)
