Bike stand help
I'm a complete noob when it comes to repairing or maintaining bikes. I have always took em to the repair shop. Well with this bike I plan on doing some of my own repair/maintenance. I need a stand or rear wheel lift or something to keep the bike upright while I do work. I need info on how they work and how to work them. How does a rear wheel stand work, how do I get it into place, and can I remove the rear tire with just this stand? Any help is appreciated.

Okay. Found some videos on YouTube. Just one more question. Does the zx14 require spools to use a rear stand? Does it come with them( I can't remember )? Or can I just use a rear stand without spools?

Yes the ZX14 needs the spools, unless you buy a stand with the tabs that sit under the swingarm. I have that type and find it very good for general use.

I have a pitbull stand that allows you to use spools or just the little pegs on the stand. best thing i ever bought.

The PitBull stands are very good quality and are very stable when the bike is on the stand. You can now get the stands with removeable handles and this is great. The reason is because you do not have to sit on the handle while putting the rear wheel on. If you decide to get the front and rear stands ** DO NOT BUT THE BIKE ON THE FRONT STAND WITHOUT IT BEING ON THE REAR STAND FIRST ** The bike will fall over.

+1 have a pit bull and make sure you buy Matching spools for a 14 as there is a difference.
I usually remove the seat so I have the sub frame to pull back on.

I invested in spools rear stand and front I use them both for tire swaps taking the rims and tires to the shop will save you money . I take my front fender off when on a stand to get front rim out.

What do you mean by matching spools? Wouldn't any spools work?
Yeah I'm for sure going with the Brocks Alienhead.

They make a couple differnt MM size spools for jap bikes ask before you buy

Some spools are a little longer and stick out furth away from the swing arm. I have the PitBull spools and they work great. You need the 10mm spools

Ya I have seen some big spools they claim to be swingarm protection I went with standard basic anodized look

There is fine and coarse thread 10 mm bolts. I will check which 1 it uses when I get home in about 10 minutes. I will piss you off if you get the wrong ones. Wonder how I know that ?

71 buck delivered for both front and rear stands on Ebay. 10 bucks for the spools. My 14 is sitting on them sleeping for the winter!

Pit bull stands are wort their weight in gold! Very sturdy. Worth a few extra bucks vs some of the cheaper ones

I strongly suggest the forward handle rear stand, although I use both forward and standard.

The forward stand work great on a liter bike but on the heavy ZX14 it is tough to get the bike up.

Put a centerstand on & skip the wheel stands, always there and easier to use.

You own and ride a zx14 and need to know how a rear stand works?
I can only think up of a first time motorcycle owner and that's even scarrier.
All you have to do to determine wether your bike has swingarm spools is look at it.
I know I sound like a d!ck here, but I'm still in denial in regards to this thread on this forum.
