Paint advice
I bought a used zx14 2007 and it had been laid over. I got it for a good price so I was willing to put a little money into it to fix it cosmetically. I have it almost back to 100% except for the lower fairings. I saw a guy on craigslist that does paintwork. He said he doesn't actually sand down the fairings to the black plastic unless there is some damage to be fixed. He said he will just lightly sand the factory paint then just paint over it. Is this a proper way of doing this?

pretty much. you dont have to sand everything down to bare before paint, just as long as the clear coat is off. i mean he is only painting plastic. just make sure you have the right paint to spray with. thats all i did whenever i painted my wheels on a bike i used to have. just scuffed the coating off and sprayed. held up just fine

Is it worth repainting?
There's lots of cheap fairings on the zx14 forums and eBay.

Got one on ebay. Crack in the paint trying to install it. Gonna get it done right. I have a few of the scraped pieces I am going to have redone as well for spares. Never know when I might need em.

Masszx14 I have the white special edition like yours. I saw your bike in another thread. Did you have your lowers repainted red or did you find them on fleabay? Any recent pics of your bike? Im always looking for ideas.

Let us know if you still need fairings. Lots of guys here with spare bits and pieces from their 14s, myself included.
Post some pics too!

Not to jack his thread.....however, I am looking for the large front fairing. The one around the headlights. '08 Really dark blue metalic, but will settle for another color.
