Hose clamps as spring compressor
Somebody on here said they used hose clamps to remove and replace shock springs. Sounds kinda dangerous, but would like to know how it was done since I broke my regular compressor tool.

Sounds pretty logical but I agree dangerous!! I would not do it. Undo a large hose clamp and put it around the top of the spring and probably about half way down then reconnect the hose clamp. Use one on each side of the spring and just screw the hose clamp down. It should in theory compress the spring. I did not see that post nor would I try hose clamps to compress a spring. There is not to much keeping the clamp from just coming undone and there goes your teeth.

Most of your bigger auto repair chain stores (Firestone, Goodyear, PepBoys ect.) use a
wall mounted spring compressor for changing out struts . . . . . zip buy one of those places
and you'll be in and out in 10 min. (with all your teeth)
