brake fluid?

What fluid do the braks use? I am fixing to change the lines as part of winter improvements and forgot to look. Thanks

DOT 5 for mine I had brake fade on factory DOT 4 almost caused me to Weck . it was a hot day and I was using the brakes hard in the twistys DOT 4 didnt hold up

That's weird about the DOT5. Those fluids aren't interchangeable unless you flush the entire system really well. The factory spec is DOT4 which is sufficient brake fluid. DOT5 is a silicone fluid and is used in very limited applications.

Yep completely flushed the DOT 4 and DOT 5 is much more expensive but brakes are too important for me. I also changed to braided brake lines

pony up some bucks and get the MOTUL with the extended heat range, we blister that stuff on the race tracks

I always thought you couldn't use DOT5 in a system designed for DOT4. Makes for a mushy brake lever. How did it work out?
