Did you actually think your statement out B4 you posted it? Agreed, probably most owners of this bike will fall into your age catagory. My experience dictates the majority of trash talking comes from the youger age groups.(16-35) Yeah, we all see plenty of old fat guys that can't ride very well but, I see just as many posers in the younger group. I for one, still race motocross, cross country and still do track days. I'm not the rider I was 25 years ago but, my equipment, being so much more advanced, makes up for a large part of my loss of ability. BTW, I'm 51 and can still rail......... Just not as well as 25 years ago. Please don't hate us "old guys." Remember, in 20 years, you will be one!

Agreed, I gotta sit back and play "wait and see". On the subject of the 180 horsepower Aprilia, I think once again it's a crank figure. While I realize rags print different things for different reasons, here's a link to a graph comparing the Aprilia RSV4 to the Duc 1198 and Yammi R1. 180 crank equates to about 158 horses rw. The figure on this graph is ball park of that number.

You see what I am saying about the line needing to be moved to the right? The peak occurs at 13000 or a little above......not at 11500 like the chart on the first page shows. I am not saying anything about how much power it will make............

U misunderstood....I said ride like HELL...not 1/4 mile straightline passes. That bike isn't made for that...it's made for power and railing. So I stand by what I posted chief.
Stevewiffle......So you're saying he's the only one? plus he's young 40's and I didn't say "ALL".....MOST. Trust me....I don't need you or anyone else to say different because I witness it all the time. It doesn't bother me at all unless they talk like their god on their big bikes and then ride them like pussies. I've always believed that if you got a mouth and talk really highly of yourself, then you should back it up. Lots of those highend sportbikes are owned by older posers and not very good riders. That was all I was posting SON. lol

That's awesome! As you can see I didn't once say "ALL" men in that age range.
WAY...and I mean....WAAAAAY more don't than do. Out of all the owners out there that leaves LOTS of range for ones like you to exist.
I totally believe you on the young guys too. There's way more of them that are like that then the older crowd. I agree. I was just stating that the older crowd is WAY fewer; therefore the odds of me seeing one that is NOT riding the bike like you do is more likely, which is why I posted what I posted. My eyes collected my data.

NinjaNick,
I fully comprehended your post. You have every right to your opinion. You were pretty clear in your statements and I understood what you were saying. I found it humorous that, at 32, your 10-15 years from falling in the age catagory you mention (upper40-60). If you rail now, you might lose a step, but I doubt you'll suck ass if you still ride in 10-20 years, and I certainly hope you do.... Just like being at the track, it's always a kick to poke fun at each other, not to mention ourselves. From one old guy to a future one, ride like you stole it, keep your tires down and stay safe.

By the way I am 56 If I can't snap of a couple of wheele's , trippel diget's every time I go out , then it was a piss pore ride , i will be dissapointed , have to work out on machine's to be ready for spring! still takes longer to develop in the spring at my age , but I will try any one anytime , on the back rough pavement , ride moto cross on pavement , or 140 miles an hour , for hour's , yep hour's before , haveing to slow down , come ride with me !

Forgot to say , did buy a perfect CBR1000 from a attourny, he thought , it was his type of bike the add's get them every time, or to be with the group, they hang out with.
I buy bike's to speed on hot rod , just to have fun , a zx14 is a quick way to be alone , do you want to wait on people to catch up ?, wait for the cop's to coffee up? , or their low dutiy day's
Find lot's of used bikes like that , harly's same story ,lot of money for a bar hopper, times are tough now ever see so many cheap Harly's ?? people used to buy em to fit in the croud , same as kid's and sportbike's, the look, do ya think fancy blinker's , or pink windscreen's make,em faster?, NO GLOVES ,HELMET, OR DECENT BOOT'S, but they all have a new can , or led blinker's, crome wheel's,bitch on the back in short's
As for BMW I blew one of those new 1200's away with a RF900 think how that poor guy felt, spent all that money, got out run by an old Suzuki!!

" NO GLOVES ,HELMET, OR DECENT BOOT'S"
This has always amazed me! In over 40 years of riding, I can't cound the times my gear has saved my life or limbs.( maybe because I suck), regardless of state laws, the catch phrase: " I'd rather sweat than bleed " always comes to mind.

Those #'s look so bogus. Their K1300 only put down 146 to the wheel in Sport Rider Magazine (this means that it probably wouldn't put down 140 on a real dyno.) You are gonna tell me that they can build a 1000cc engine that puts down 45 hp more to the wheel? C'mon!
I'll believe it when I see one on a real dyno. Otherwise, all this talk is just high school rumors.

i thank these older riders - they have the money to buy a new bike and once they are done with the bike can sell it for cheap (I get excellent deals and bikes are well taken care off)
thats why you can get zx14 cheaper and cleaner compare to hyabusa.

Nick i'll slow down soon too at my age (mid-40's).."sport tourers" are starting to look good to me !
But in all truthfulness, the "over 40 class" in any race league such as WERA and CCS is among the fastest, and over 40 riders are usually on top in a lot of the classes.
Slowing down on the twisty roads to me is more "seen too many die" lately than phhysically not being able to push a bike as hard anymore.

Steve, with motocross being the exception, I feel the same way. Age seems to breed prudence. Most all the 40+ guys I know, including myself, that still race or push hard, train part of the time or all year in my case to be fit enough to compete at speed with any age group. Seeing first hand, so many crashes though is always sobering. Part of you knows it's time to slow down but, the competitor in you keeps pushing anyways.

I totaly agree am more carfull , harder to find unpouplulated area's, got to be more carefull at age , healing takes longer, one trip to the hostpital , could cost as much as one of those BMW 's and a good dirt bike .
Thank's Steve didn't know that the older class was that fast !

I saw this bike on the track here at Roebling Road Raceway in Bloomingdale, GA. I gotta tell you it looks much better in person than in pictures. The asymmetrical things is not only on the front fascia but carries over to the side panels with each side being unique. We were not permitted to ride it but did get to see it in action on the track during many sessions. The electronics are only as intrusive as you want them to be, I saw them using settings that allowed a good amount of tire slide. As for those power numbers we didnt see it run on a dyno but on Reobling's long straight it was not really pulling on my friends 09 R1. Both riders were about the the same weight . I gotta admit the BMW was an incredible thing under braking but the the R1 got right back up in his ass on the front straight. The BMW was able to get into the throttle much earlier on corner exit than most of the other bikes , Oh except for the Ducati desmosedici that was running. The desmosedici appeared to have the BMW's number exiting corners. I was impressed with the bike but it not something that you would call a game changer. The refinement of the electronics on a bike this new was impressive. I personally dont think for me its worth the premium in price for the gains made over the other in the liter class. But hell I could change my mind if they actually let us take laps on the thing. LOL.
