Can you confirm that on your ZX14 what typical Fuel /Air Reading you have using the PCV??
I use an Accel wide band controller , and it reads within .5 of what the O2 sensor on the dyno. I shoot for an AFR of 11.5( on a gasoline setting) on the track , but that is much lower on the dyno without ram air.
You may want to ping Rich ,,, he has a map for e85 for the PCV ... I dont think I have a PC3 map for a stock motor,,, I had the PC3 on the 1530 cc bike.

I wonder what is the max compression that you can use with E85? I see that some imports are running 20+ psi of boost on it.
Many of the big bike NA motors are running 16:1 - 17:1 compression. I have seen those ran on Q16...but also C-44 which is relatively low octane. C-44 is like $50 a gallon, which is pretty crazy. One would think you could run a LOT of NA compression with E85, given that the dynamic compression of the turbo setups are over 20:1?? My big motor is less than 16:1, so it definitely makes me curious.
I have just found an E85 station on my route to the dragstrip. Goodbye MR9, hello E85.

I was advised by Dynojet of a firmware file to upgrade the Wide Band Commander in the case of running something like methanol, so what it does is extends the range of the Gauge so it will read lower settings of Air/Fuel.
In my own situation with the E85 it looks like my "Challenges" have been with the Fuel air Sensor Probe.
I have seen a number of reports where the readings go Lean when the probe is starting to malfunction or fail.
I think there are a lot of people out there or avoid E85 simply because of a lack of knowledge and understanding of the Fuel. I must admit I have learn't quite a lot about it through this Forum and others, and by researching some of the scientific Papers out there on Ethanol, they belay a lot of the fallicies on E85.
In my opinion E 85 is one of the best kept secrets out there!!! and only the fortunate ones who elect to try it and investigate it can appreciate it and see some of the benefits of it including the Cost savings over other fuels.
Cheers

something over 200, with the naked bike , for a record :-) Ali only started riding my bike last fall when i need 3 more mph to set the Naked 1650 Fuel record. I went 203.5 , Ali went 207.5 .
but i do intend to enter the fastest street bike shootout in september , owner has to ride so we will see what I can do with the plastics on...
the last couple of land speed events were all geared toward setting a MPS record before Maxton shuts down... and that is done, but just by .5 mph. Now I can spend more time making passes.

So--how much more NOS did you add to do the 220MPH? Or did you figure out the problem with the wheel speed/GPS speed differance? Lets do Yeagerbombs!! NOT>

wheel spin is still a problem . The bike shreads a rear tire in 6 or 7 passes at Maxton.
Seems like adding more hp doesnt always gaurantee more MPH :-(
Now I bring 3 rims with tires mounted on them to make it easier . Going fast gets expensive.

Question on the E85 map, is anyone advancing timing, particularly on the stock engine set ups? Talked to a few car guys and they saw minimal gains until they jumped timing up substantially.

ive been saying this from day one about throwing as much timing as you can at it but some say it doesnt make a difference, ive never tried it for my self so i couldnt say one way or another

are you confident that the O2 sensor is ok? I have had no problems getting the bike to go very rich on a dyno ..... so I am concerned that you have not been able to see AFR's below 14:1 , but you have the fuel so rich you can see it...
is it only on top end runs that the fuel stays around 14:1 or is it over the entire rpm range...
why did you try to modify the flies out map ? have you tried to run that on the dyno or track ?

Hi Guys
Well I have spent quite a bit of time trying to resolve the high fuel/air ratio I was getting on my Zx14 on E85.
I loaded methanol firmware in to the wide band and ran it. Was getting readings of about 8! Then remapped with a base E85 Map and changed the firmware in the wide band back to gasoline.
Ran the bike again and A/F was still about 14.5:1.
Took out probe/sensor, rechecked it's operation out of exhaust and used butane to check for scale movement. Seemed slow and erratic. Tried another probe - very poor response if any at all. Undid cable ties securing Wide Band sensor cable and checked all connector contacts . Found a little corrosion on contacts inside connector going to Wide Band Commander.
Reconnected my original Wide Band sensor probe with "cleaned" connector contacts, and "Voila"!!
A fuel /air ratio reading of 12:1!!!!!!!
Tested it several times to get readings of 11.5 to 12 : 1
Absolutely rapt now as the Wide Band is reading correctly and corresponds with the infra red CO readings.
Isn't it amazing how an electrical gremlin due to bad contacts can have you chasing your tail trying to resolve an issue where normal adjustments were not reflected on the readings.
At least now I have a reliable reading which indicates a Fuel Air Ratio which is in line with what you guys are sayingI should have had in the first place.
Just need to get some track time in to see how she runs on E85 and do some tweaking!!!
Cheers

I am not sure how you could do that on a ZX-14... I could only add 5 degrees.
Maybe you could reflash the ECU to get more timing than that.

So are you saying i shouldn't be pulling 5 degrees timing after 5.5psi? Do i need to just leave it at the stock settings?

I have no clue how many degrees of timing the zx14 runs, so advancing 5 may put it at 30 degrees? Who knows the answer to that?

I would say stock ignition timing for ZX14 will reach a total 32 to 34 degrees in stock configuration .

Thats alot of timing, I think advancing the bike would show minimal results if any.39 degrees of timing? No thanks.
