well roy only thing i see there on that map is maybe cruising at highway speeds at 5% throttle at 4krpm that will be in use .. the rest of the map is unuseable numbers and conditions that the bike can't do or just blows thru to get WOT ..

whats your 80 to 100% from 6k to 10k RPM look like

how long does it take to accellerate form 3k - 5k in 4th gear ?

not everyone just uses their bike just for dragracing. If you rode on the street I would think that you would not want to have the bike pull hard thru that range. I made this map using a datalogger and a throttle stop. I would set the throttle stop to a value like 60% or 80 % and then go thru the gears. Once I got in 4th gear I would start at 2000 rpm and then pin the throttle to the stop and steadily accellerate upto redline. This eliminates the incorrect readings when opening or closing the throttle. When the throttle is opened quickly there is extra fuel dumped, and when the throttle is closed it cuts the fuel.

this takes alot of time , since you have to do 3 or 4 runs per throttle seting , and I doubt anyone else goe to this much trouble.

My no flies map doesn't have anything near that rich and was built on a load controlled Dyno at every throttle position form 10% to 100%, only 1 cell with a 60 and 3 cells with 50's, everything else is leaner, E85 is a 10% to 20% increase over MR9, not 40% to 60%, Smokin even says you were at 10.1 afr way too rich and he leaned it down to 12.9 to 12.8 where is should be, you have to keep in mind that E85 is 33% oxygen and to get it to a 12.9 afr you have to feed it about 30% more than pump gas, not 60% to 70%.

i have never run MR9 ... the 40 % was over pump gas ,,, and the higher values were just to compensate for flies out . At high rpms and full throttle , the numbers were around 45% withthe 1530 motor, that was 35% higher than race gas. this was with '06 ECU and injectors.

that was only at 9500-11000 and when it was tuned back to 12.9 it was +40% higher than the stock gas map . Gas map had -14, E85 had +27 after tuning, +40 on the first run . But this was on a stock motor , not the race motor. The motor is 15% more displacement , so the values are all higher. I will be bringing the race bike down in a couple of weeks to check it out before the mile race in Miami on Jan 3rd.

Smokin we have been testing in a car and it makes more power with more fuel its kinda strange but the car is in the 10.8 range and is making more power than it was at 11.8-12.0, Also if you could adjust timing hit it with a few extra * of timing and I'm sure power will jump up big time.

Bikes are way more efficient than cars, hence they don't need as much fuel to make power.

damn you little bastard smokin. Saying "250+ pounds" as if that was the cutoff line for Big Fucker! Sorry, but 250 is still small in my book.

Car guys: what kinda power you think I could get out of my '05 GTO (currently 385rwhp) with E85?? Sounds like the 14 picked up around 3%, which for me would be 10+rwhp- except my car only spins to 6500rpms. ??

With the correct tune, plugs and timing 8% or more, Horsepower TV tested a small block with a carb and gained something like 27hp and 37 ft lbs and they just put the jets in the carb that came in the kit, no other tuning or changes.

So the 70 and 80 cells you have posted are on your 1530cc race bike? If so that makes since, I thought those were from a stock 14 like mine.

Bikeland member Wrongway stopped by with his zx14 to do a little dyno testing today ...His zx14 has nothing but slip ons and a PVC .. First of 4 pulls were done with Pump gas and made an avg of 163 hp and 100 Foot pound TQ .. Air fuel was 13.0 to 12.9 with pump fuel ... We drained the tank and added the E85 , the first pass it made 165 but was very rich at the upper RPMs ( 10.0 @ 10,500 ) .. We leaned it up to look more like the pump gas map ( 12.9 to 12.8 from 8000 RPMs up) ... It made 168 HP and 103 TQ ...
...

swift and this statement don't make sense either to me ..

pump gas map and then we leaned the bike out for e85 because it was way rich ...

it should have been lean on e85 running a pump gas map to start with

well , that was because I already had an E85 map loaded on the PCV alonfg with the gas map, but it was rich over 9500 rpm ....the second paragraph mentioned this. I have been running E85 for the last 1000 miles on this bike. The mapping upto 9500 was pretty close using the autotune.

quote:
Nothing was done to the bike other than mapping changes to switch from pump gas to E85 ..The New PCV holds two maps , one for pump gas and one for E85 ... If you want to switch back from E85 to pump gas all you have to do is flip the map switch on the PVC .

hope that clears up the confusion.

sure does ..it reads to me like you had a e85 map built from the pump gas map and then loaded it into the #2 hole of the PCV..

27hp on a carbed small block? Not to shabby and about what I was expecting: the real beauty lies in its cold running abilities and higher compression friendliness. I bet if you built a engine specifically for E85 the gains would be in the 15% range. Which on a 500rwhp would be awesome indeed!

We are talking hp and performance here not gas mileage, zx14 1352 cc makes more hp at the wheel than your jetta (1500cc to 2500cc) using less cc's, hence it's more efficient at producing horsepower per cc normally aspirated and a 2 stroke is a lot better at hp per cc than that, but you would have to know about engines to understand that.

I was under the impression that Mr9 was being phased out two years ago and being replaced with Mr11. Anybody have any info on that?

Lee-- would love to see a comparison with E85 and Mr9 or11? Keep up the good work.

when I got my bike back in march last year The guy I got it from told me that he was told you could get large gains from ethanol over gas as thats what they use in Alaska where the bike came from . I asked on one of the forums the resident bike GUY lol and he gives me the bull about how ethanol could not possibly net you more horsepower bla-bla -bla and some bad english... Just gose to show you that some guys know more about bullshit then they know about bikes... now do you think it is possible that a stock comp could run ethanol I for one would like to dyno that could turn the biking comunity on its ear if it was possible. Hell car too
