200 mph club

Looking for advice and input from those who have actually broke 200mph barrier on a ZX-14. I'm gonna build mine towards that goal.

What mods did it take? Did you lighten the bike and where? Any and all sincere advice appreciated.

I lightened my bike with wheels, pass pegs, emission crap, mirrors ect . . . .
Turbo charged @ 9 psi . . . . .
18/38 gears . . . .
Top notch suspension . . . . .

You can achieve it with less, thats just how mine was.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure your previous turbobike could bust 200 mph Bob. Did you ever get anything else to ride or are you happy just to ride Beths ZX and your dualsport??

Well when restricted to 186 mph she will ping the limter in 5th gear. However even in 6th it falls on it's face not too long after that if unrestricted. Maybe 190 and change. (guess)

Yes, first off you are going to need a Speedo Healer to defeat the top speed limiter. My bike is fairly standard engine-wise, just an exhaust system (TiForce when I broke the 200) and a Power Commander with a custom map. The secondary throttle butterflies were removed too. It was mapped on the dyno at GT Motorcycles in Plymouth, UK. The bike was also lowered and strapped with the mirrors removed for the top speed runs. I nearly forgot to mention gearing, I have tried 18/41 and 17/40.

That's it, you can reach 200 with the right preparation, a good technique and somewhere to do it. My bike has done nine runs at over 200 now and hopefully more to come next season. The avatar image, left, is me and my 14 on the runway at RAF Woodbridge on a 200mph pass.

Txs, now thats some good info. My bike is setup very similar to yours, see signature line. I removed some extra weight removing the pass pegs and stock exhaust. Sounds like I can lower and strap and delete the mirrors and get in the ballpark.

Brock has a good write up in his Diary on how to make a 14 go 200mph. Check out his webpage.

Yes he is, 199 is quite an achievement on a near stock bike. I know of people on turbo's who haven't managed 200 but I'm far too polite to name names.
