I'm interested in the spacer thickness as well. Further, once the spacers are in place, is the valve cover being secured to factory torque specs?
Increased torque?

Factory torque , no more no less.

The washer's are the way to go easy fix , pull a bolt any valve cover bolt , take it with you to LOWE'S they have thick brass washer's that fit the bolt perfectly

I saw some where someone said to use thin washers, thicker washers make more since.
Could someone post pix of the proper M10 washer to use ......That would be helpful.

Here you go, I used these stainless m10 washers. its been thousands of miles and about a year with no leaks at all. I didnt use any sealant around the bolts like i have read on here, I just removed one bolt at a time and installed one washer on each bolt, then toruqe'd it to spec. Works great,

Yep that looks about right , like the stainless , too cold to pull out the bike for photo's, brass one's from LOWE'S are slightly larger outside diam. fit the bolt tightly.
the sealer is for over kill , GET IT, OVER KILL
who want's to ever have to do it twice , the rubber washer's in the valve cover are supposed to squezze the bolt , not letting oil past, the little groves on top of the washer's seal the bolt head's 3 prob, seal bolt head, seal bolt shaft , seal the valve cover !!!
the toruqe , look at the bolt , it has a sholder, commom sense tell's you it will only tighten so tight , till it stops ' the bolt's are too long , or bolt bosse's too high, you need more squezze on the valve cover gasket it's self .
KNOW WHATS SO HARD ABOUT PULLING A VALVE COVER BOLT GOING TO THE HARDWARE STORE FINDING THE WASHER'S , ALL BY YOURSELF IN A LITTEL DRAWER JUST WAITING FOR YOU TO DIG THROUGH !!! Reread my post on looking at the gasket while tighting down the bolt's Doe's it squeeze out a tiny bit??? , if you do it right you can see oil weep out , wipe it off , and that will be the last oil to leak out !! choose the thick washers , no less than in the photo , posted of the stainless.
if this seem's to hard , better not mess with it , sell the bike , get one that doesen't leak oil !
the ZX14 is not a beginer bike mechanic bike!

no bike should be a "mechanic" bike,. they're sold to ride (reliably) not to wrench on.

At least Harley fixed their crap from leaking without riders having to dig around hardware store drawers to repair.

Just the way I look at motorcycle's toy's for me to wrench on , love to have a bike like the 14 , pleasure to work on , only keeping mine up not alot of mod's would rather ride the hell out of the thing ,not time to modifi.
hey mine don't leak fixed it myself , faster than any harly here , more fun , looks better !
Very realiable bike , after owning 19 diffrent bike's the Kawi, Suzu, Honda all more reliable than Harley , what do ya see along side the road the most.
ya I was pissed to , oil leak no prob Frame crack big prob.
What are you doing being a modarator on this site , and affraid to turn a wrench.
should have kept a bike with real tourq , insted of toe tapping those littel racers arround.check that shifter seal on that cbr track bike bet it's leaking, better dig arround the Honda dealer's drawer's

Every bike sold should be a mechinc bike , Those dealer's wouldnt be able to screw every body over !
Tough shit for every body that bought one then , can fix my own , do all my own repair's , car's truck, bike's It's fun
Are you saying that people shouldn't change their own oil, might not get the filter tight ? have a littel leak ??

What's Harley got to do with a zx14 valve cover leak, they had plenty of problums, granted they are better know , that most of their part's are made elsewhere, see the new plastic on them? so you say they fixed a oil leak , what one? or did they get them all ?
let's see $10.000 40hp 70 ft lbs 600 pound's how does that thing? relate to a valve cover leak ?
sound's like that zx14 that's gone was to much for ya! too much to hold on to? or to hard to work on ?
Harly has their own oil now they recomend it, it doese'nt drip!!

I just used 2 small washers I found in one of my washer drawers in my shed. I put them on the front and rear left side valve cover bolts and they worked excellent. The valve cover hasn't leaked since.
