chain lube
What is the favorite lube you guys are using on your chain. Any particular? What are ya'll cleaning your chain with? Anyone use mineral spirits?

wd40 to clean it, and chainwax to lube it. Make sure you take it for a 5 min ride first though (to warm it up) if it's an o-ring chain.

WD40 only here for years. Last bike before I sold it I got 24,000 miles on a WD40 only chain with hardly any wear and stretching. Shit is magic at everything it does. I even use it in the bedroom.

I was thinking of getting a non o-ring chain. I was wondering if its a good idea for street driving, and do they make more noise?

If this is a street bike stay O ring. EKZZZ is a great chain for a 14.

So some of you just use wd by itself? No lube. I can't remember what I used back on my XX, but I put a drop between each link. I'll try the WD for cleaning...just make sure I don't get any on my tire!

There is a rider on a local forum who got 40k out of his stock chain and sprockets using JUST wd40. It works by itself. I just bought this expensive chain wax, so I might as well use it. When it's used up, I probably won't be buying another can of chain wax.

I clean my chain with wd40, then I have the bike on the rear stand and put in 5th or 6th gear idol and spray the wax on it (so I don't get too much in one spot). I'll rev it a little in 6th just to get the excess off. Wipe the rim good and ready to ride!

+1 WD 40 to clean. I use white lithium no-fling chain lube every 300 miles. I hate a dirty chain!

Bel Ray Super clean... it's white, but works really well and doesn't sling off. I used it for years on my drag banshee and have been using it on my zx14 as well. I only had 15,100 miles on the stock chain and sprockets, but they still looked good when i pulled them off.

O yea I use the maxium clear chain wax! Works great and you can't see it.

That is surprising to me coming from you.
Usually you buy the most expensive highest quality stuff. Your fuel system alone blows my mind. That is saying something about wd40 if lyle uses it.

WD40 good for cleaning, thin out 90W gear oil, with minrel spirit's, bike on stand 1 drop per roller, let it soak under the roller, spin the chain slowley several times, wipe off excess, wait few minuet's wipe it down 2 nd time you are good to go, all that chain lube people stick all over the out side of a chain does not do anything for lubrication, the rollers need the lube under them where they roll, the pin's are sealed by the O ring's
what's wrong with common sense, just the bearing surfaces need lube, not the outside, maybe that expensive spray on shit looks good to some people, that white new look, better look twice at that used bike chain , the one the sale's person said was new !
get the lube under the roller's make it last. that's where the wear is , chain roller's, chain pin's, just shake an old chain arround where it's worn out ?? Is where your new chain need's lube. if you don't buy a O ring you have to soak em in oil , gotta lube the pin's
Ever think about the ammount of stress chain's go through!! the cost of good chain!!!! why not lube it right???

I spray wd40 on a red rag and wipe the chain down to get the grime off and then spray motul street formula chain lube on it. 3 years and 12500 miles all looks like new and still pulls the numbers on the dyno.

New chain had that caked white crap all over it. Took ya'lls advice and sprayed WD-40 on a rag and went to cleaning. The gooey crud came off like magic! Very nice. Thanks all.
