60 to 120 Roll on Race
The "inner squid" in me couldn't help but be drawn to the November issue of Super Streetbike with the mighty ZX14 on the cover. The stock 14 in the article is up against a host of modified cars (including a twin turbo Viper) in a roll on race from 60 to 120. To save you the $4.99...the Ninja wins with a time of 4.4 seconds. Closest comp came from the Viper, and a blown ZO6. An Acura, a Mustang and a Camaro SS were 10 to 15 car lengths back.
Just curious...what do you guys think of this result?

I think it's funny when the car guys set up a ridiculous race, canted in their favor, and still can't beat a stock ZX-14.

Until you come up against someone that really knows what they are doing and has a true 800 RWHP car and then its a different matter. Especially up top..

I remember I had a bit of trouble staying ahead of a brand new Z car that was fixed up.
He was with me at about 5 car lengths behind up to a bit above 180mph.
Now that was a roll on at 130mph , if I did it at a lower speed the little Z car would have been way behind.
Still that little Z car had me impressed.

It seems that most car guys have a hard time grasping how hard bikes accelerate . Let them put any big bore bike on the highway in 2nd or 3rd gear and pull the throttle against the stops for a few upshifts.

Yep cars for the most part are slow to get going. One time I dusted a ferarri from the start and topped my 14 out for a few miles backed down to 170, looked in my mirrors and the ferarri was closing on my. So I topped her out again but the ferarri caught me an the dood waved as he passed and kept going!
That was an awesome day cause it was a major rush

we mess around with my P-Box it checks times like that and the fastest car ive put it on was my friends 88mm turbo 370ci SS it made just under 1k hp and has a th400 in it and in a 60-130 roll it went 5.6 seconds, here is a list of some quick cars.
*3.53 - Underground Racing TT Gallardo, 1,300 rwhp, 2-shifts
*3.93 - 931 rwhp Supra, 88mm turbo, TH400 Auto, ET Drags

spanked a ferrari enzo coming from the coronado bay bridge onto the 5 once here in san diego. He was so ashamed that the wouldn't pull up next to me afterward. I guess he jumped on the wrong guy.

A buddy of mine has a super-charged Viper that puts around 750 to the ground. He was always racing bikes out at a new major road that hadn't been completed . He would always get them to race in HIS power areas. Usually from 50-150. He never would race from a dead stop. He knew better. Bikes would always jump him, but he would quickly reel them in and pass. GSXR's, R1's, then a ZX-10 and then 12. He finally raced a 'busa...got jumped but just couldn't reel him in. Got beat by about a car length to 150. So what has he done? Added nitrous. Bad ass car, when he can keep it from breaking.

ya i have lost to way more cars than i have bikes, over here we got some very sick street cars a few supras that are close to 1k and a few that are in the 1300hp range a 700+hp M3 alot of f-bodies and fox bodies as well as some TTcobras that lurk around looking for unsuspecting bikes

Oh yeah, a huge amount of moolah. This is a really cool guy that just loves to go fast, and he's fascinated by the bikes. I used to torture him by saying I spent $6300 on my XX Blackbird and he had to spend $75,000 to beat it. They kick him off of SAR because he's too fast for not having a roll bar.
He did not know about the 'busa being stock or not. Just bugged him, so the next time I talked to him he had a new gadget installed.

There aren't many fast cars around here :/.. None that want any of a bike anyway.
Lol there's a diesel truck that runs 9.50's... Crazy for a 4wd truck!

that's niiiiiiiiiiice right there! 
On the original topic the Viper would've pulled and caught up to the 14 at top end. As they also said, the Viper just started pulling hard at 100mph and pulled harder as mph increased. Then again, it had to be towed away because of a blown tranny. haha. 14 definitely better bang for the buck there.
