quote: @ACADIAN; No matter what you are rockin! I've been launching soft with lousy 60' @ 1.78 - 1.85 with my mph at 149 - 152
how often do u race ur 14? My first time out was 1.68, been 1.63 with a 6" arm. ITs still not geared low as it should b, that maybe beginning of next year, lol. THis is on a 12, i figured the 14 would b easier to launch
I might get 8 -10 passes every other month. So far less than 40 passes. Just taking small steps getting back into drag racing. Just about broke my neck in 02 on my Harley with a 12 oclock. I did consistant 1.60 60' with 98 hp so I know 1.40's are coming when I go WOT on the launch. For now I'm having fun.

2 step didn't help. Bad advice, being a beginner, bogging all day when it was hot. Got cooler that night and she woke up. Lesson learned- 2 steps are for wheelie bar bikes.

How do you loop a Harley? They all hear that you just crank the throttle and toss the clutch and your gone. I've known a couple of dooooods that said exactly that. " They just said to throw the clutch and I would take off like a bat out of hell"

Sure. And that was with +1 in the FRONT and -1 in the BACK!
Long story short: Was riding with a buddy on a K7...car full of girls roll up, speed limit is 45 or 55, traffic lights but we're doing 20-30ish given the traffic. Normal technique I use is to slide all the way back, roll the throttle wide open and instead of dabbing the clutch in the midrange like on a 600 I have to hold in the clutch a little longer than a dab....partly due to the 250's slow revving relatively heavy flywheel.
I used the same technique I always use, only with even more clutch because I stopped at a gas station with the K7....only I forgot I didn't fill up so I was rolling on 1 or 2 gallons. A
HUGE
difference in wheelie characteristics on a 250. Well here she comes....10:00....11:00...my brain is now going WTF!?!? I try and chop it, but its coming up quicker than I had anticipated. Last minute ditch to hit the rear brake was amusing as my right toe just barely grazed the lever....and that's all she wrote. 12:00....1:00.....oh boy....WHAM. Got up quickly, picked it up but after the first attempt to ride away and the bike constatly going left I look down to see my front wheel is cocked at 11:00 while the handlebars were "straight"....so I had to ride a couple blocks with the front fender grining into the Pirelli and the handlebars full locked right just to go straight. Don't ask how I turned right onto the side road.
Went back later that day to retrieve my taillight which was held on at the time with zip ties...you now....for weight savings....
And no, the girls didn't stop. K7 buddy just shook his head and said "WTF is wrong with you dude." I really don't know.

I'm at a lost ... I was thinking a 250 didn't have the balls to flip over or even get the front wheel off the ground .. I learn something new everyday ...

i use a 2 step, it does take a little getting used to but i like it. ....i did just about go over backwards before i got the clutch and suspension set a little softer.... you dont need them, and you dont need bars if you have them, just need to be setup for them
now i gotta try to find that timeslip to put you all to shame
