tiger tail
Holy crap... that thing was pretty much the biggest pain the ass that i've ever had to work with lol. I still have to do some trimming on the seat lock to get the plastic fasteners on the sides of the tail to line up correctly, but i set out to do it without pulling the rear wheel off or anything and succeeded so i guess that it's a win. Now all I have left to do is put the chain, extensions, sprocket, clutches, brocks clutch springs, oil pan, and racetech rear spring on lol. We'll just have to see how long all of that takes haha.

You can do all that in half the time it took just for the tail. I was told it would take 2 hours or so, but it was a PAIN!!

yeah, i got it in just under an hour and 45 minutes, but i was definitely yelling curse words at it in my parking garage lol.

Yeah but the end product looks nice,and you can also spray it with pam before you go to the track,so you can wipe the rubber right off!!!!!

Just make sure you don't let your tire touch the undertail! That would be bad.

Never had to trim anything on my tiger to get it on. took about an hour with tire on.

i did mine without pulling the tank all the way off, and in a dim parking garage lol. I probably should have waited until i could use someone's garage.

if you never lifted your tank off, how did you pull the two bolts on the cross member to get the stock fender out and to bolt the tiger tail in?

Does it really help to have this, because I have rub a small quaurter size hole in my inner fender.

It gives you a bit more clearance area so you can lower your bike even more.

and keeps you from rubbing through the stock plastic fender into the wiring harnesses and whatnot. It also does a really good job of pissing you off while trying to put it on. I suggest installing one just before an MMA fight. It would most likely give you the edge lol.

Well heres the bad news. I still rub my fender with a Tiger Tail and I also have my spring adjusted............Oh and I weigh less than 150. If you bought the Tiger Tail to reduce rubbing it will still rub. One perk is that your tire will not rub through it and it looks really good once installed.

Look at the following pictures. This is with the bike sitting at 63", and no adjustment between photos:
It looks to add around 1" of additional clearance:
In many cases 1" of extra clearance will be adequate to eliminate your rubbing issues. There are many factors, such as wheelbase, ride height, tire height, shock preload, etc. which can all contribute both positively and negatively. When I fitted mine, it did stop the issue.

Mine has only touched once or twice, and on the tiger "tail" it stops your taillight from being covered in rubber. I like mine, but I'm with bawls, its a mo fo to install. I think I went in it not thinking that much...

Another factor to consider is how hard you launch also. Not stirring up trouble but I just find it weird that my spring is adjusted all the way down and my screws are all the way in and my tire rubs every pass. I love the tiger tail and it does give additional clearance. Maybe I will start hanging on to the clutch longer? Lol

1" is 1"...the pictures don't lie. What height tire are you running, and where are your links set? Also...what is your wheelbase? Like I said, all of these things are factors.
Using threaded links you can lower the bike precisely. For example, just recently I lowered my bike by another 1". It started to rub, so I raised it back up about 3/8"...now it no longer touches. That would not be possible with the stock undertail.
Yes, just to make it clear: My 60 foots are mid 1.4's, consistently. Nooby runs low 1.4's consistently, and I think he has run some high 1.3's. So, keep that in mind. It might mean that 1" is no longer 1".

I want to say I have close to 4 1/2" clearance. The tire is now closer to the flap hanging out the bacl than it is the actual undertail. I went to the back of the extensions yesterday.

It is quite dependent on where the tire is sitting. In my photos, the bike is at about 63"...which is normally in a very low part of the undertail. But, there is not as much leverage from the arm, either.
In Nooby's case, I believe he is sitting at 66"...which is really going to overtax the stock shock, making it even more likely to hit any undertail. I also believe he has a taller, road-race type of tire on the bike...that will eat up 1/2" or more in clearance as well.
Dusty, you may want to bend that flap upward if it looks like it will touch the tire under compression, that is what I do with mine.
