You guys convinced me. Steel is the way to go. I agree on a 600 it should be ok but with the power of a 14, and my "size" as davej was kind enough to point out, steel is the deal. Now what is the best source for a 45 tooth in steel. I found up to a 43 on drivens site. Right now im at 16 and 43 but want to try a 45. I dont use the bike to commute on the highway as much anymore, so i think 16-45 would be fun!
Thanks again guys!
Big Dave

im already one down on the front now which was a big improvement. when i went up two on the rear along with the front, it was even better. Im ready to go two more up on the back bringing me to 45 or plus 4. I dont do top end runs at all and rarely criuse over 70 to 75 mph. Im all about the pull from a stop! If the 45 turns out to be to much, i will probobly put the stock 17 on the front and leave the 45 on the rear.
Thanks
Big Dave

Well, I was wrong, checked the sprocket against a new steel and there was wear. Replaced it so I'm back to steel.

I remember buying a sprocket and chain from these guys when I had a gsxr1k, they were kind of expensive but it lasted for a long while and I was not easy on the throttle. www.sidewindersprockets.com

I have 6K miles on my 14 and other than the stock rear 41T I've used 2 rear Vortex sprockets on the stock rear wheel, 1 Vortex sprocket on the gsxr wheel and currently have 2 rear Vortex sprockets for the BST wheel... all held up great

Vortex is a good brand you get what you pay for. I'm gonna stick to steel though cause I've never had a problem with steel.

You should chaing them all at once front back & chain to avoid faster wear on the parts cheaper in the long run

I don't know what you're talking about
Actually the miles are lower. I swapped to another wheel and tire that had another sprocket too cause the tire was like new. So I kept that setup for 20,000 miles. Then in the last wreck sombody else needed the new tire from my wreck so I swapped back to my original wheel and sprocket. So it had a 20,000 + mile reprieve lol
Also I just looked at my front sprocket and its looking loke the teeth are starting to fold

Well when it's time to change this chain out I will be changing them all at once. The stock sprockets do pretty good.
