Good Times Protection Plan
This has probably been debated before. I just received the option to purchase Good Times Protection Plan. The exclusion of coverage for "wear and deterioration (including loss of engine compression) occasioned by the use of the product" seems too subjective and a way out of many claims. I don't race the bike or ride it unusually hard. Naturally I open it up on the highway once in a while. My bike has 3,000 miles with zero problems. What are your thoughts on purchasing the extended warranty?

Warranties are only as good as your local dealers service departments. In my area there are no skilled techs or even tech managers. I took a pass on the extended No.1 my bike is a little modified thus possible controversy. No.2 No decent dealers nearby. No.3 I do all my own wrenching and believe it just adds to the overall experience. My 07 is 2 yrs old and @ 23K now and not one blink, runs perfect, and has had zero issues.

My extended warranty on my 07 has not been used either. I had terrible clutch slippage at 3000 miles. Took it in and found out clutch was not covered. They did not tell that when I purchased the warranty, they told me everthing is covered. Wrong, its more like "what is covrered". Just make sure you know, because they can get pretty tricky. Other than a clutch nothing has gone wrong. But it is peace of mind. (I think)

It's a great profit tool for the dealers, beware, if they're making money you're probably being screwed.

Warranty's don't cover normal wear , clutches chains , sprocket's, ore anything the dealer think's was caused by hard use, posted 1/4 mile times are considered abuse.
save the extened warranty money for your next bike when this one is worn out , never had any luck with dealer's, they are there to make money ! so the more you don't need one the better !
For the most part you are just lucky to get a bike that was put together correct. from the crate!!

They replaced a fork seal and wheel bearing on my 06' ..free of charge. I figure I broke even with the cost of the warranty. I would have replaced them myself had I had no warranty in place.

The warranty is good for small stuff that don't cost nothing. Someone mentioned a fork seal and weeel bearing. Something like a catastrophic engine failure happens forget it! You'll have better luck playing pickup sticks with your butt cheeks then get the factory to do anything about it. Having a good dealership and knowing people there helps a lot. It's up to you but I bought it not knowing and later had it pro rated back to me.My bike will never see the stealership anyway so I didn't need it.
