Battery

Last night my bike wouldnt turn over lights lit up but apparently not enough juice to crank the bike over, tried to push start it unsuccessfully then tried the starter button one more time and it fired up............do you think the battery is toast and I should just get a new one or could it be a fluke?

Battery is 39 months old, i've been riding the bike a good amount for the last 3-4 weeks but prior to that very little for about 5 months.

Did you check to see if the terminals on the battery are tight. I had same problem awhile back and mine was loose. if they are tight have your dealer check the battery they should be able to tell you if it is any good

Yep check the terminals for tightness and cleanliness cause sometimes there can be buildup on the terminals. Also give the battery a nice overnight trickle charge.

Batteries under normal conditions are good for 2-3 years, if yours is this old go get a new one. There was a day where batteries lasted 5 to 7 years and just riding daily kept them charged.

Maybe it has been my experience but it seems FI adds a demand to the common battery that seems to zap them after 3 years (and I keep mine on a battery tender when I don't ride for a time). If the is any growth on the terminals and your battery is new take it back to the Manufacture it is leaking and although I have not seen issues with the battery it could destroy the wiring over time.

Hope this helps
