shitty news
Tonight I went the the track that I had my accident for the first time in 7 months. I wanted to run since I'm going out of town tuesday for a few weeks. I installed the pc thursday, pulled the flies, and put the red cap in the airbox. I had to run 7psi (that's why I hated that track) and pulled my best 60ft ever 1.411. And 2 6.01's. I was looking for the 5's and I wanted it baaad. My last run the clutch felt a little grabby, and sure enough I did my first 12oclock since stretched. Knocked the oil plug out. I was lucky though bc it went so high that it was balanced for ab 1/4 of the track when it landed. I shut the bike off ab half track, so I assume the motors fine. Pisses me off bc I'm ne of the guys on here preqaching to other people ab getting a clem's pan and I'm dumb enough not to have one.... The other part that's worse than that is the header is dented pretty good... I will post pics tomorrow. Oh well, I didn't fall, so I feel like I come out better than I could have., just a little worried ab my header. Thanks for listnening to my venting.

Dusty, They took my busted pan on trade and if you are in a hurry I paid full price and then mailed him my old pan for the refund later. Clems told me as long as the gasket surface is in good condition they would take it on trade. BTW KILLER 60ft, your a big dude so good job. Glad you did not fall I was not that lucky.

Thanks chad. The absoulute STUPID thing is I haven't changed my oil since acadia sent me to oil plug.. So it was sitting on the shelf.I was going to change the oil today and put the new plug in... Well, 12 hours too late. If I would have laid her down I think my dragracing days would be over, I can afford anymore losses...

Also, did you have the full stock guard and drain bolt? And, what about the forks?

Shane I believe a hair under 3/4". I am going to slide them up before the bike runs again. Yes the stock guard was on. Like I said, I had all intentions of fixing that stuff today...

I only ask because my setup is:
60 series tire
Forks slid 1/2"
Modded guard & plug
Forks internally lowered 1.5" and strapped
200 lb. rider
So far, I have not hit the pan. I did damage my exhaust on the return road and going into the garage. I think, more than anythng, it is how you set the bike down. If you smacked the pipe...it had to come down pretty hard. It can happen to anyone, for sure. I am still deciding on a final setup for mine.

I would have ripped mine out with a modded gauard or plug, the clems is the way to go. 2 weekends ago without the clems pan I would have done it again! they took my busted pan ans sent me a modded one for 125.00

Yes it can happen to anyone. I hope someone else learns from our mistakes. This is my 4th year racing a 14, and been running it stretched over a year and this is my first time even touching the oil pan at the track. Don't think it can't happen to you... Bc it can

I just got off the phone with shannon clems and he said as long as the pan isn't warped they charge $125 shipped for a new pan... I might try and get it taken off tomorrow and get it shipped out monday. I think at the same time I'm going to buy the 2 chain links (should have already done) and stretch it out 2 more inches so this won't happen again. Just news for someone that don't have the pan yet.

Shane, Leave a little harder and you may actually lift your front tire.....lol. No chance you will hit your pan until you start
leaving harder.........sorry, just kidding but I know how bad you want your 8. Seriously invest the money for a different pan.

I don't go high noon with it...once it comes up over a foot the run is wasted:

No reason to stay in it...there are no heroes, just busted oil pans.
I'm likely to get a new pan in the next couple of weeks.

Shane I've had the same thought as you, I don't play superman. That's not the time or place. I don't know if you recall but the reason I hated that track is bc of the lights, they SUCK!!! I don't have the best night vision, and when I launched I'm pretty sure the left and and right hand didn't work at the same time. If I can recall, I remember it revving a hair before my clutch hand worked. The clutch didn't "slip" as usual, it just GRABBBBED. I didn't have time to let out, nor was I worried about trying ti give it gas to put the front tire down easy, my main focus was getting my new baby down without looping. I"ll take a busted oil pan over looping it anyday.

I agree, looping it is bad. And it can happen to anyone. The area I feel is most dangerous is when the tire spins and then suddenly hooks...you can be pointed up before you know it!
Better safe than sorry, oil pan wise. My only reservation has been for the slightly smaller sump capacity while holding the bike wide open for up to 1.5 miles. That is why I haven't bought a Clem's yet.
Still might, or might have mine modded a little differently.
