PC5 autotune
after reading a thread that said that he autotune did not update a map automatically , i reread the manual... There was a line that said that you could switch between the learned map and the base map with the map switch. This made me think that the PC5 was running on the learned map . I verified this by loading a base map that ran very rich at idle and put the autotune in learn mode with a target AFR of 14:1. The bike leaned up to 14:1. The I hit the map switch and the bike went right back to 12:1.
So , to have the PC5 automatically adjust your afr while you are riding you need to have a mapswitch connected and switched to learn mode.. If you choose to apply the trim values, it is applying them to the BASE map . And you can swith between the learned map and your base map on the fly.
there are limits you can apply to control how much it will change form the base map , and by default it is 20%. This swwms like it will work on the E85 flex fuel project by creating a base map that is +20% more than gasoline. It shoudl adjust down 20 % for gasoline and up 15 % for E85.

I'm a little confused, Roy. Are you saying that it will function as a closed loop system and adjust in real time?

The Auto Tune kit can be configured to run and correct at all times or by using the "map switch port" on the PCV. You can set it up so that you can switch back and forth between the tuning modes and the base map settings. You can also configure the Auto Tune kit to wait until the bike is at a certain operating temperature before beginning to make adjustments.

I guess the question is, is it fast enough to correct under racing conditions?

It does store info as it learns... so every run should add something. When I was switchig to E85 , it semed to take 3 or 4 runs to get the bike to power wheelie.
I think the LSR runs would produce a good map. The accelleration in high gear takes much longer.

Hello, I used autotune 6000 Miles, it's the best thing I've ever made in my ZX 14th
I use it durable, the AFR dynojet of programming I took over, they move from 13 - 13.6, so that runs of the engine fantastic.

I also like the Autotune. I had a PCIII and custom map on my ZX12R. I would say that the ZX14 runs better with PCV and Autotune setup.
I have the PCV, Autotune and map switch on a European 09 model, with Yoshi R77 end cans.
With the Autotune enabled but no map switch, the PCV is in learn mode all the time
With the map switch connected and enabled in the Autotune configuration it is possible to switch between the base map mode (ie ignoring the fuel adjustments that have been learned) and learn mode. When switching from learn mode
to base map mode any fuel adjustments are saved. These are re-loaded into the trim table when learning mode is re-engaged.
Just out of interest I connected up the speed input (and hence the gear postion), so I have a fuel map and trim table for each gear. The changes made by the autotune are different from gear to gear, especially 4,5 and 6. It is possible to have an AFR table for each gear as well, but I've not bothered with that. I would say that having the gear sensor enabled does make the bike run better, rather than having one map for all gears.
I'm going to pull the flies next and see what happens.
