1/8 Mile track times for Novice?

I have a 2006 ZX14, after market air cleaner, PCIII Custom map, Modified Stock exhaust, 6 in extended. -1 down on the front. 280lbs in gear.

What is a good goal to shot for on 60 foot and 1/8 times the first time out? I've raced back in the day but nothing lately. I can do 6k launch with no tire spin just fine out on the street. Any tips and advice will be put to good use. Thanks in advance.

Depending on your experience i would say shoot for a 6.30 to 6.40 with a 1.55 or so 60ft

6.8 was what I was running my 1st time on the 1/8th.
I usually stay around 6.2 now ,stock height and length too.

Just a bit of advice, if your doing 6k launches on pavement without spinning, launch a LOT harder at the track! Slipping your clutch that much is going to burn it up, fast.

You could use a little more gear than that, at your weight. It will be hard on the clutch to get those 1.5 60 foots.

Here is one of my first clean passes back when I got my 14, with +2 gearing at about +5.5". Not my first 1/4 mile passes ever, though:

You can hear the clutch dragging a ways out, and I was only 230 lbs. suited. That pass is a 1.52 60 foot, probably around a 6.40 1/8th.

Nothing done suspension wise just my street setup .
Motor is stock just have slipons.
I think my biggest help is that I weigh in at 160lbs cause I'm no pro rider

He's got more than just spray if he's running 5.2, because Dustin Vagedes of Bronze star racing isn't turning near that on their bikes and he's a bad ass rider. He won his wally and jacket from NHRA last year. I'm looking to hit up Fontana in a couple of months so maybe we can all get together there. You should also take a trip down to San Diego sometime and run Barona. There are also some great twisties down there too.

5.2 all day long? you're right Bawls, thats not just nos, Richcraft has a big motor and nos and isnt running 20.s, close but not 5.20's, that would be around 7.90+ in the 1/4 mile.

Oops my bad I got my time slips mixed up ! The 5.2's belonged to the harley drag bike that cleans up whenevee shows... The zx14 with spray did an ET of 5.77 @ 124mph, 60 foot was 1.42.
Sorry for the confusion.

Only got a copy of runs before the rain. 6.79 was my best time with a 1.81 on the 60 foot first time with a bike on the track. Drove cars on the track 15 years ago. So that took getting used to. I broke out on the first run trying to launch hard at 7k. More practice... Thanks for all the tips. I think going up 2 in the rear will help on the track as well. Also a tread mill it would be cheaper than trying to shave 50lbs off the bike.

With a few more runs you would have done the 6.40's. good times for first time out and 2 runs!
