Stock air filter
With tomorrow being the big day I thought I should check the air filter. Good thing I did as it had about two pounds of bug parts in it. I tapped out as much as I could and used the air compressor for the rest. There was a little bit of oil residue but I think that is normal.
Next week I will get a high flow for the track. Should I switch back and forth to the stock filter for the street? Do I need a different map from Brocks for each one? How many times can I just clean the stock filter?

With the stock paper filter I'd bet your not getting the "full amount" of air through it, even though you blew it out. The paper still has dirt stuck to it, therefore allowing it not the breathe as good.

Plus, the metal grating is obviously restrictive. A less restrictive street type filter should work well for you, without needing to swap them.
I use a BMC race if I am going to do any longer street rides, but I have been known to run without at the track.

Shane would the K@N be the right choice then? I don't want to take it out completely since it is pretty dusty there (no pun intended eklipse636). I have not put the stock filter back in yet, should I just cut the screen off the back and be done with it?

BMC makes a street filter as well as K&N. I have used both BMC and K&N products with success in the past. I have not tried either of their "street" filters for the 14, though.

I use the K&N in my 14 and I find it really good. I took it out once to inspect for dirt getting past it around the edges everything was fineit seals well and comes with the K&N sealing grease which I used a little of as well.

I've always read and heard that kn is not the best filter for the track as it is more restrictive then say a BMC or piper cross. kn's where known in the past to lose hp on the dyno.

I've heard the stories of kn being lower on dyno's than the others as well.

I will go with the BMC street filter. I have not found any negative comments about BMC.
