zx14 for zx10.... what do you think
There is a local trying to sell his low 9 second 04 zx10 for quite some time. Since my bike isn't selling (and I simply won't sell it for less then $6500), I'm thinking I might just turn it into a drag only bike. This guy is interested in trading, but I think I would want money on top. How good is the 04 zx10? Is it as reliable and bulletproof as the zx14? Would I be trading down? I lowballed him and asked for $800 on top of my bike cause his has been for sale for quite some time. Do you think I should trade or stick with my bike and extend it?
He claims he's been 9.17@154
Here's a rundown of my bike

Well there is nothing wrong with a zx10 But like most 1000s the clutches are not great for drag racing .. Or i should say the zx10 clutches are not as good as the zx14 .. It is also harder to go fast with a zx10 Vs a zx14 .. Yes a zx10 with a light rider that knows how to ride the clutch can go fast .. It's just much easier to go fast with zx14 TQ ..
You ready have the bike you need ...Go 64 inches and add an air shifter ... Spend 5 or 6 hundred on your zx14 and GOOOOOOOOOO fast !!

Look at the for sale ads around. That 04 zx10 without the stretch but
still with most of the bolt ons and that mileage is not worth more than $4K.

Don't do it!
The 10 looks like a real nice bike but you would have to spend some serious coin on the motor to get it to do what the 14 can do with an unopened motor.
Just read up on what the 1/4 mile boys have done to their bikes here, and make a list of the mods that give you the most bang for the buck.
Your 14 is a great looking bike, and has all the power you'll need!

Just go to the track with the guy and switch bikes. I bet you will know the right decision after the first run.

If your going to drag race then why switch, do you just feel like having something different? I know the feeling. I'm back to keeping the 14 myself. In my area 14's don't sell If I had a busa it would have been gone hate to say it but true. my dealer says if they don't really make big changes to the 14 this year which we don't see, he won't even order one becuase he has a silver 08 and a 09 monster edition still sitting there and no one even looks at them. he sold 7 08 busa's and 5 09's so far. which is good for the size town I'm we are in. he has even tried to dealer trade the 14's and no other dealer around here wants them either. really sad as they are great bikes but around here if you go to the track and there are some 14s the riders can't ride and make the bike look really bad. everyone accuses me of having motor work becuase the few other ones around here don't put up numbers like mine but it's hard getting thru to some guys it's not the bike. my buddy saw extended wheelbase 14s this weekend only running 9.80's with lighter riders on them. around here with what's happeing 14's will never sell worth a crap.

keep the 14. More reliable and less expensiove to race, not to mention faster for most people.
$800 difference for a 2 year older slower bike doesn't make any sense to me either... but thats just my 2 cents.

That 10 looks sweet and has alot of goodies. That thing is flying if its going 154 in the 1/4. Keep the 14 though it has way more potential.

My friend has a 04 zx10 with nearly the same mods as my 14 in the first 2 and last clips of my video. My bike and I are 200lb heavier than his. plus he had to replace his motor with in a year.
