Saved oil pan

Today I did a 12 oClock wheely and landed hard on the front. I was previously thinking of sliding the fork tubes up about 1/2" in the trees. That would have left me with less than a 1/4" from the pan at full compression. Boy am I glad I didn't. That would have probably been a trashed oil pan. With 2" of spring travel left from the internal fork leg modification. I remember why I did it that way. Right now with the stock pan I have 3/4" under the pan on full compression.
A Clems pan and a Tiger under tail will be the very next mods so I can lower the bike some more. Needless to say, launching at 5000rpm is ok for me at full throttle but feathering back off the throttle would have been a better thing to do. I'm only thankful for staying on the bike and finishing the run. And that was the only round I won because the other guy red lit.

Just my experience
James

Good to hear that you were able to recover it back James and that you're safe and sound. BTW, are you using a steering damper?
Hugs,
David

I always try to keep the front down when sprinting, it's faster. If it does begin to wheely, stay in control and let it down gently.

James glad to hear you saved it! What amazes me is your at 68" and it still wheelied?! I'm only ab 7 1/2" over stock and it dosent come up with the big rear sprocket. I guess the best way to look at it is if it only busted your oil pan, it can be replaced with a better one.

Thanks eklipse636. Today I extended it out to 68". I was at 63" yesterday. I can't wait to get the Clems pan! I want the front another 1/2-3/4" lower. Hopefully I see 1.50 sixties next times.
