Anybody here tried the new Shoei X-12 or RF1100?

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on the vey new X-12.
I still haven't seen or tried one in person.
I currently own two X-11s and a RF1000 and have nothing
but great things to say about Shoei.

Anybody bought one?

I was wondering about these myself as i will be in the market in the near future but I love my Arai. i was thinking of the shark RSR2 it is suppose to be the lightest helmet on the market and motorcyclcloseouts have some killer deals right now but no one in my area carrys them so I can try one on.

i have the RF1000 currently and love it except I get alot of wind noise comming from under the helmet. I finally bought a new Scorpion 1000 yesterday and its alot of helmet for the money. Great ventelation and love the built in sun glasses and the cheek air pump! This helmet also fits the style of my bike. I cant wait to try it in the winter to see how the helmet does with airflow or lack of.

I'm due for a new helmet, and I love my arai astral as well. Its the only helmet I've had to firt my head. Does anyone know if the x12 has the same shape as the astral? ( I know the astral is a older version, but not sure which one took its place)

I know worst. A buddy of mine dropped $700 on one of the
new Arais earlier this summer. Crashed within 15 min of his next
track day session and put a couple of big gashes on the brand new
lid. The bike was fine but the helmet was only good for the trash bin.
He wore his older RF1000 next time on the track and crashed again-
he destryed both the helmet and his one piece suit that time.

You know ,I've never done any thing more than put a few scratches on my helmets in all my crashes. Guess I'm pretty good at dodging stuff that try to hit my head lol

A helmet that has been in a crash and has blemish will not pass
the safety inspection at a track day event.
It needs to be replaced anyway even if it just fell off the bike or was
dropped on the ground since you don't know if the integrity of the shell
was affected. At least that's what they recommend.

I don't think getting scratches on the faceshield warrants replacement of the entire helmet! If it did I wouldn't be able to ride cause I'd be broke!

You're quite lucky if you can get away with replacing just accessories
such as the visor and the little wing on the back of the Shoeis and
maybe the vent ports.
Can't replace the shell though if its scuffed up.
I've seen one continuous 2" wide gash all around a helmet from a spill.
All around it. I guess the guy rolled on his face and back a few times.

I want that new X-12!

A lot of places are dishing out their in stock X-11s for dirt cheap.
I see them for even less than $350 shipped on compacc.com

Very few color choices for the X-12 though.

Yep, I do not need new X-11, but did just pick-up a matching one for my better half, exactly from the very same source, to replace her aging X-9.
Not sure if I like the looks of the new X-12 that much, but it may grow on me over time, perhaps when I am ready for new lid.

Just got an email add from competition accessories, their super secret special low buck price is 559.99, list is 692.99 (Glory model). Pretty stiff for a workin' stiff. Guess I'll just suffer with my X-11 for awhile longer
