Synthetic Oil?
Hey new guy around here.
I just got my 09 ZX14 about a week ago and am just about to do the first service. I want to put a full synthetic oil in but I have been told that it causes the clutch to slip - you guys seem to know what you are talking about - any advice?
What's the best lube for the beast?

I was running the suzuki synthetic oil because I get a case for 60.00. worked great and clutch looks like new after 180 runs and 1200 street miles. switched to amsoil last oil change about 20 runs ago and only difference for me but not everyone is my cold start rattle was gone. actually time for a new clutch as my MPH is off 5 and I will go back to the suzuki oil as the start up rattle does not bother me and the amsoil just made no other difference for me as far as et or 60 ft. and the suzuki oil is just alot easier for me to get my hands on.

I have a funny to add! When the POS horsethieves stole my bike and took out the oil pan , I think they heard the chain adjuster rattling and thought they killed the motor . Thank goodness for the rattle in my case cause if it didn't make noise they surely would have run it till it stopped. She still runs strong and no noises !

That would be me! I used that stuff before I switched to royal purple. Never had a problem with Lucas and the only reason I switched is because the placed that carried it stopped! So I needed a replacement and went with royal purple. Lucas synthetic is really gooey and thicker than any other synthetic I've seen. Good stuff

I called Bob Carpenter Racing Enines about a CCT for the 14. He does Not like the manual
CCT for the 14 because of the design of the chain. Told me to call back in two weeks he should have
some ZX-12 CCT that have been machined for the 14. I had a APE manual on my FJ1200 with
no problems, but it had a stronger chain.

Here's a test of some MC oils for you guys. Redline isn't one of them in the test but it is close in comparison of the ingredients to a couple the best oils here in this test. Hope this helps.

Did my first service 1000km - Took out the 'shipping grease' and replaced it with Amsoil 10W40, full synthetic as recommended by you wise ones, runs great - no clutch slip whatsoever - nearing 2000km.
Thanks!

Syn or dino? Either way, the $$ problems you will occur with the bike will not be from the oil choices IMO probably from the more expensive mods you will apply later . Yes I use dino,. in a traffic jam your bike will heat up using dino or syn.

It's all a scam by the petroleum industry, there is no synthetic oil, it's just a way to make more money via better advertising.

The petroleum industry does produce the synthetic(man made) base PAO additive that goes into a synthetic oil.
For the regular dino oil it is a paraffin base that breaks down way before the PAO base. The choice is ours. Sludge or no sludge.
