How to disconnect/remove all front assembly

Dear experts,

The frame bracket that holds all of head assembly (headlights, etc.) has a broken mount and I need to replace it. If I just unscrew, I can't lay down all of head assembly b/c of all the cables that go there... how do I disconnect those?? Or how to take it down/apart?

Or should I just lay it down on a bar stool nearby?

HELP! Or call 276.494.9623.

Thanks, Alex

Uggh I've had to do this replacement on several 14's as well as 4 times on my very own 14! I have gotten quick at getting to that bracket and replacing it. About 45min so far lol. It's hard to explain online but basically both left and right mid fairings ,ram air covers, and the wind screen, and mirrors have to come off. Then you can access the headlight harness. Just unplug them at the bulbs. Then locate 2 8mm 6 pointed head bolts that attach to a thin metal bracket at the back of the headlights . The bolts are at the very top of this bracket ,one on the left one on the right . The bolts attach the thin metal bracket to the main fairing bracket you are replacing. After that the whole front fairing and headlights will be in your hands. You'll need to check for any wiring that may still be attached . From here on it's pretty easy to figure out what comes off next to get the main fairing bracket off.

So all wires are unpluggable right? I.e., nothing is hard-wired except LCD screen which can be taken off, right?

Thx for help bro!

Yes, def. live and learn.

Stan, I didn't take pics... should have though! It's ok, maybe I'll do it for other parts... replacing exhaust header next (with urs ). Then tank replacement... then engine pan cleaning... crank shaft sprocket replacement... then all back together and hopefully it will actually run hah.

Don't have plastics, need head assembly plastic really bad. Would be interested in w/e u or others got, but can't buy right away, low on cash so... until then I'll drive with scratched ones, don't care, miss ZX bad enough to ride with crap-looking body.
